[9:41 AM EST - Monitor surge.]

I got a call yesterday informing me that a package had arrived for me. I figured that it was my new monitor since the estimated arrival date was Monday. I was a little giddy when I got home, and I found a note on my mailbox indicating that the concierge was holding an item for me.

I brought the note up to the desk, where some girl was having a parking permit filled out. She was quite outgoing, and laughed at my entrance, since she thought that I was drunk, the way I sauntered into the foyer.

I honestly did not think that I walked like that, and I certainly was not doing anything different. Do I always look like I am walking drunk?

In any case, I gave the note to the concierge and he looked at it and proceeded to flip through the pile of envelopes on the desk until he found a 407ETR bill for me and asked me to sign for it.

I was a little surprised, but I probably should not have been. I never asked what the package was when I was called, and delays do happen, although with the mail, I received an invoice for the monitor.

This morning I heard on the radio that there was a power surge on the grid, and many systems were knocked out (traffic lights and the such), so I wanted to check that my computer equipment was okay. I turned them on and checked my mail. I also checked to see the status of my order.

I found out that the item had been shipped, and when I checked with Purolator, I found out that the monitor had been delivered, right when I got the call.

Now, the issue may have been the fact that my account was somehow set up as a small business account. I was forced to enter in a company name, so I made one up. When I looked at the shipping information, it showed the company name and address, but had no contact name (me) nor a suite number. *smacks forehead*

I went back down to the concierge and checked to see if a package had arrived for me. Fortunately, this guy knew me, and he was probably the one who picked up the package since he immediately went to get the box (the guy at night did not know me).

I guess it was a strange coincidence that I ended up with two separate packages, but only one of them was tied to a note left to my mailbox.

In any case, I had planned to play with the new monitor last night but I probably would not have gotten a lot of sleep.

Oh, there were a number of lights knocked out by the power surge, but not enough to completely stop traffic. I made it to work on time, despite the monitor fiasco.

[8:04 PM EST - Forty pounds lighter.]

Wow, I forgot how heavy my CRT was until I tried to lift it. I nearly gave myself a hernia doing that! Fortunately, I already have someone lined up to buy the monster off me, so I don't have to worry about finding a home for it. Now all I need to do is to clean up the rest of my junk..
