[Wednesday, July 26, 2006: Driving Conditions: Cramp.]

While I was driving to the restaurant after the first day of the tournament, I started to feel the familiar twinge in my left calf every time I used the clutch. I was hoping that I could make it all the way there without pulling the muscle, but just as I was making the final left turn, my calf cramped up and I was in severe pain. I managed to pull the car over and stop despite my spasming muscle, but I had to sit on the side of the road for several minutes before I felt well enough to park the car in the (underground) parking lot. Even that was tough, especially when my teammates were standing in front of the car, and I only had one useful leg for stopping..

[Sunday, July 30, 2006: More ultimate party.]

I went to the TUC midseason tournament today. Our game started at eight, but I didn't really get up until eight, so I basically missed out on the first game. Our first game was against the lowest seeded team in our group, so it was a very easy affair. I didn't think they really needed me for that game. The second game was against the top seeded team in our group, and we got pretty much demolished (we were the second last seed). We did have some good flow though, and that set us up for our third game against the third lowest seed, who we ended up beating 13-4 (although there was some contention to the score at half time - which we responded by allowing no points in the second half). Our last game was close. It was against the third seed, and we were tied at eleven. My right calf started going on me. You know that feeling you get when you use a muscle and it starts twitching on you? That feeling you get when you know it's going to cramp or spasm? Well, I had that feeling when I was heading to the disc, so figuring that being safe is better than being sorry. I decided to stop and stretch out the leg for the rest of the day.

That was a good idea, although ironically my left calf cramped while I was driving to food after the tournament. Anyway, we lost that game, but it was really close. Half of the team went out for food, and then I went home to shower and nurse my leg before heading up for the birthday party.

The party was alright. The usual suspects were there, and there was a lot of food. I didn't do all that much if I can recall, but a group of us ended up playing poker for part of the night. I ended up splitting the pot with DL which was good since he kept getting amazing hands when we went head to head even when I had the big stack. (Pocket aces - twice!)
