[4:04 PM EDT - Ready to ride bitch?]

When WG asked me if I was ready to ride,

"Ready to ride bitch?
You'll be riding with me bitch."

I thought he was saying,

Ready to ride, bitch?
You'll be riding with me, bitch.

But on review of the logs, the commas were not present. Apparently "Riding bitch" means riding on the passenger seat of a motorcycle. Hey, so I don't know the terminology.

Anyhoo, WG gave me a ride up to the dealership where the bike was stored. Windelynn came along too. Since the place was up in Newmarket, we needed to take the highway up there if we ever wanted to arrive in the morning. So we were zooming down the highway with me on the back seat. This was the first time I've been on a bike on the highway, and the first time I've been on the back seat of a bike since I was a kid.

Let's just say that I'd rather not do that again. Riding a rocket to the moon would've felt safer. There were many times when I felt I was being pushed off the bike and if we had hit a pot hole..

Well, it was still an exhilarating experience and we got to the shop in very good time. They had to replace the shifter, and I needed to get some paperwork done, so we went down to a Ministry of Transportation office to pick up a temporary license and have some breakfast. Afterwards, we went to pick up the bike, and.. off we went!

Windelynn had agreed to take me down the side streets as this was the third time I've ridden a bike and the first time I've ridden this bike. But after I got on and released the clutch, all the stuff I learned from that course last year came back to me. I pulled out without a problem and started to follow Windelynn.

We headed south and we needed to pick up a gift for JW so Windelynn suggested a place that she goes to. WG had other things to do so he left us just before we got to the store.

As we were shopping, I noticed one of the store girls was staring at us. I watched her as she went to the door and looked around outside. (I had a funny feeling that she was looking for our bikes, but we had parked behind a van.) She then came up to us and asked if we rode (which was a fair assumption since I was wearing my suit and she was wearing a jacket - and we both had brought in helmets).

So we started talking, and she told us that she had a bike too! We continued to talk, with her thinking that we were together (we straightened her out though) and eventually, I said Windelynn's name.

As if a switch had been flipped, the girl suddenly recognized her. Apparently they had met before at some other motorcycle function! What a small world! The funny thing was that it was her first day on the job too! (Not to mention that she was really cute.) In any case, Windelynn gave her her number and promised to teach her to ride.

We then headed back to my place where I was able to fit my bike in the space between the wall and the car.

So I've got a bike, and I can ride it. Giddy up!

[Sunday, April 30, 2006: Parties. Farewell and happy birthday.]

There were two parties scheduled for tonight. The first was a farewell party for Dangerman, while the second was a birthday party for JW. I got to the first one early, for once, with my bike. Being early meant that I had to help out with getting things ready. I knew I arrived to parties late for a reason! *shakes fist*

There were a good number of people who showed up. There were only a couple of faces I didn't recognize. I stuck around long enough to finish my food, but left before they started playing a modified version of Pictionary.

I then rode out to JW's place (at night). Night riding is a lot more spooky than day riding. You can only see as far as your headlight (in those areas without street lighting) so it's quite possible to hit an unexpected bump or hole if you're going too fast.

I kept my speed down.

I arrived at the party without a hitch, and everyone started commenting about the bike. The regulars were there, so it was good to see everyone again. But the party broke up soon after I arrived.

Windelynn followed me back down to my place to make sure that I didn't get myself killed. It was good, since I probably would have gotten myself killed without an escort.
