[10:05 AM EST - Dream Sequence: The Dark is Rising.]

I had a strange sequence where I found myself driving in my car. I smelt something funny, so when I looked down I noticed that my handbrake was partially engaged.

Anyway, the main meat of the dream took place in some really hellish place. The skies were black, and the land was glowing a dull red, with rivers of lava slowly flowing over the landscape. The heat and fumes from the molten rock distorted the air and polluted the atmosphere of our last island of green. Our area was well lit from the entrance into our underground sanctuary. I watched helplessly as the grass bordering our two lands slowly burned and gave way to the encroaching lava. I knew that this would be our last stand. The final hour was approaching.

For some odd reason, there were ski lifts around our little sanctuary. The chairs were melted and twisted, and there were many bodies hanging from the lifts, their necks at odd angles to the rest of their bodies.

I watched the bodies slowly slide off as the lifts continued to run, but my attention was driverted by an object that was heading in my direction. I was able to catch the ball that had been thrown at me. It was heavy, metallic, and hot to the touch. There were skeletons in the distance, using a cannon to shoot these rounds at our slowly shrinking group of fighters.

I quickly rounded our remaining survivors and herded them through the entrance into our sanctuary. There were not many of us left. Maybe thirty at most, but I knew we needed to make our last stand soon. The time was coming for the final confrontation and we needed to take that opportunity to fight back. I looked at the clock. It was nearly eleven-thirty. It was time.

I tried to rouse the troops to come out for one last battle but nobody wanted to fight. Only a couple of people followed me back up to the entrance to meet the enemy head on. When we opened the door, we found three humans standing at the entranceway. I was going to find out why they were there when the raise the alarm to call in the Dark.

Traitors!

There wasn't much else to do but fight..
