[Sunday, January 4, 2004: Earlier than usual. Twice!]

I had called in to the snow phone on Friday night to make sure the time that the hill would be opening. The message stated that the hill would open at ten, which meant that I could sleep in for an hour.

I decided to set my alarm a little early just in case. When I called in this morning just after I got up, I listened to the message, and heard:

"..will be open from nine to nine.."

*blink*

<- looks at clock.

Aw crap, I'm going to be late. So I put something on, grabbed my equipment, and rushed out the door. I made it to the hill.. a little late, but not really so things were good. The snow didn't look all that hot, it was warm, the sky was overcast, and there was fog everywhere!

It was nearly impossible to see, and driving was actually quite dangerous. There were some fog patches that were completely opaque. I'm just glad that people kept their lights on, or I would never have seen a couple of traffic lights until I was driving through them!

Anyway, did get some skiing in. The snow was crappy, so it was the best time to retrain. I need a lot of time with slush because that's what we get, and it'll force me to ski better. As we were nearing the end of our shift, we got word that the hill was closing early: Four-thirty. My shift ends at three-thirty. So some of us decided to stick around for the extra hour and I made calls to the second shift to tell them not to show up at the hill. Unfortunately (for them, fortunately for us) three out of the four patrollers came out anyway since I couldn't get a hold of anyone and just left messages.

Ah well, it made the closing sweep very quick.

I got home and was informed that we were going out to dinner on Dangerman's treat! So I tagged along, and ate so much that I had to delay leaving for hockey because I was so full.

The hockey game was good, although I didn't play so well (probably because of the full stomach).

I headed home after a rousing midnight snack (quite a bit of banter going on tonight - much more rude and crude than usual).
