[12:21 AM EST - So very full.]

I just got back from broomball. We had a pretty good game actually, although not all that many people showed up. I definitely need new broomball shoes: I was slipping and sliding more often than usual.

The after game food thing was good as usual. Lots of food and drink all around although I think I may had one too many iced teas. *blorp*

[11:50 AM EST - No pipe and no forward slash.]

Ah ha! I was having trouble with my test Debian system (I'm playing around with it before I have to change it to a Windows machine) because I had set up my keyboard as a non-US type. For some reason, the pipe/forward slash key was giving me a tilde/pound sign. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any other key that would give me the forward slash or pipe. This made reading man files very difficult, and help files too. I originally wanted the forward slash to do a grep for some symbols, but..

It took me an hour before I found a web site that would point me in the right direction. Apparently apropos keyboard was the thing to use (since I couldn't find kbdconfig).

Now I need to figure out why my ports are being clobbered.

[1:41 PM EST - Why do I feel so good?]

I've got a court date this afternoon. Then hopefully, this GT-S saga will be mostly over.

[9:00 PM EST - Connection's down.]

For some reason, my internet connection is down. I'm not sure what's causing it since the cable's okay, my router's okay, the cable modem's receiving packets and sending packets, but I can't seem to ping anything.

[9:00 PM EST - Hard drive test.]

I got my replacement drive today. I'm going to see if I can get the old one working with this controller. *crosses fingers*

[10:03 PM EST - New IP.]

I figured that I should try something to get my connection up again, so I released my IP and tried to get another one. Voila! I got a new IP, and new gateway and DNS servers. What's up with that?

Now I have to wait for the servers to update the databases with the new IP. This will take some time..

[10:26 PM EST - It was the controller..]

Switching the controler on my dead hard drive seemed to do the trick. It spun up, was recognized, and I was able to see my drives! Woot!

Unfortunately, the moment I started to copy my data over, the drive died again. This time, it can't seem to find the volume information.

I think it might've had something to do with the fact that we opened the drive. A bit of dust did get into it, and TT didn't clean it out before he closed it up. Unfortunately, I don't have the tools here to actually open the drive, so I can't actually clean it out either! Argh! I'll see if I can fix that on Friday.

[10:39 PM EST - Afternoon court.]

I ended up leaving a tad later than I had wanted, and hit more traffic on the way to the courthouse than I had expected, so I made it to the designated area just a tad bit later than I had planned. (i.e. I was late.) Unfortunately, I had forgotten that I had never done this before so I wasn't actually sure what I was supposed to do when I got there. So I wandered around a bit. I found a list of names posted and noticed that my name was on that list. Eventually, i found my way to the right court room, and one of the officers standing in front asked me if I knew where I was going. I showed him my slip and asked him if I was in the right place. He looked at me and said,

"I'm the guy who charged you."

Now isn't that convenient? So we walked outside and he took a look at the muffler. I reved the engine and he was satisfied with the change, so we went back in to widthdraw the charge.

Unfortunately, I still had to wait until my name was called before I could go home, so I sat down and waited for the proceedings to start. Even though I was basically the last one to get in line, we waited a long time before the judge appeared. (All rise. Please be seated..)

The first few people to go up were agents and representatives for some of the defendants. I was a bit taken aback by how quickly they spoke, how non-chalant and monotonic they were, and the language they used. It all seemed so rehearsed. But they basically came up, blabbed a bit, and then walked away. Just like that. Even the people representing themselves went through the grinder pretty quickly. (Charges widthdrawn, or pleading guilty, etc.) I was so amazed by the efficiency of this court, that I didn't realize that I was the last one in the room. Then my name was called.

I got up, said my name, and went through the motions of listening to the charges being widthdrawn, and then was allowed to leave. Just like that. Pretty painless huh?
