[10:39 PM EST - Ummm..]

I'm so tired. girl gave me a copy of UMMM magazine to look over and critique. Basically, it's a Canadian version of Maxim, but with more spelling and grammar errors. Oh man, I'm really tired. I think I'll just go to sleep.

[Sunday, April 21, 2002: Winning on the way back.]

There were two games scheduled for our group today, but neither of them were for my team. The first was for the co-ed team against the fifth place American team, which they pummeled to take the Bettendorf Co-Ed cup. The it was the two Waterloo contact teams for the other Bettendorf cup. The Lightning won in a very tight match.

Being so long ago, I can't remember much that happened that day, but I remember PG mentioning something known as "cock block". If you see a girl who you're interested in and you don't make a move in thirty seconds, you've lost your chance. I didn't think that made too much sense since if you saw her from the third floor balcony, it wouldn't be expected of you to shout down "Hey you! Yeah you, the cute one in the hot tub!". That's kind of dumb. (It doesn't mean that guys don't do it, but I think that's kind of dumb.)

We also noticed a bunch of kids that were sliding around the arena in their shoes. PG and I noted that these kids had wheels on the back of the soles of their shoes, which meant that they can roll around so long as they kept the balls of their feet off the ground. Pretty nifty way of getting around I guess, but wouldn't it be so easy to slip and fall? I've never seen anything like that before though so I don't know what they're called.

For the voyage home, we (PG, KT , and I) took a vote and unanimously decided to take the scenic route. This involved going on the lakeshore parkway as far as it went (which was halfway to the border) before taking the side roads (18/18F) to Niagra Falls. The scenery was really nice and the weather cooperated with us that day. It's too bad that my two passengers were to tired to enjoy the view (they slept basically all the way back).

We did end up going through a residential area where there was a sign posted that read:

"Deaf Children Area"

I didn't know that they had segragated areas for deaf kids! The area was also full of very old houses and trees. Most were actually in good shape and quite nice. It's amazing what you can see when you go off the beaten path.

At the border, there was some sort of commotion going on because some US border guards were posted on the US side of the border (customs was actually on the Canadian side) and was checking all of the (rerouted) traffic that was coming through. When I told the guard that we were coming back from a broomball tournament, he did a double take and commented:

"I thought you said you went to a Foozball tournament."

Right..

Anyhoo, there wasn't much else exciting that happened that day, and if there were, I can't remember. The drive back was indeed good, and the road along the lake/river had very nice views of the water. I definitely would take that route again if I ever head down that way in the future.
