[Monday, April 1, 2002: Not to be.]

We got up earlyish for a pre-nine AM game. Considering how much these guys drank the night before, I'm surprised that they got up at all! At least we showed up to the game. We ended up trouncing the other team in a 8-0 mercy win. It would've been embarassing if we hadn't since the other team didn't even use broomball shoes! The difference, as they say, is in the shoes.

Back at the hotel, we got together for a buffet breakfast, and I wanted to take some photos of the hotel before we left. That's when I realized that I had left my camera back at the restaurant the night before! *smacks forehead*

During all of this, Riston and Rog were driving most of the conversations in the dressing room with the "cack talk". I didn't really notice the Newark(?) accent from the people we met, but most of us did: "They gave us directions to the 'callage'." Some started imitating them by replacing O's with A's, which is how the "cack talk" originated.

I won't go into the dirty details (although "Heavy weiner rock and roll" got a lot of air time) but the one quote that got repeated over and over came from a Schwarzenegger movie ("Last Action Hero" methinks) which they saw the day before,

"To be or not to be." *pumps shotgun* "Not to be."

Yup, those two were a riot. (Starfish was glad he didn't bring along one of the girls he invited because of their antics.)

Anyhoo, we went back to the arena for the second (and last) Thunder game. I went back to the restaurant, and was relived to find that the camera bag was safe and sound! (They found it lying around and threw it into the back.) *wipes forehead*

Our last game was against the best team in the division and we lost 3-0. We played okay though.

After our last game, some of us hung around the arena to watch the Waterloo Lightning game before heading back to the hotel. While hanging inside the dressing room, a strange white light started to flash on one of the walls, and a soft chime went off at regular intervals. We were wondering: "Is this the fire alarm?". Our questions were soon answered when a message came over the speaker system. It went something like: "There is an emergency situation. Please exit the building through the closest emergency exit."

What the..? This was a fire alarm? Okay..

So we took our time wandering through the corridors, bumping into other equally confused people. Walking through one of the rinks, it looked like I was in a futuristic buildling of some movie, with the lights flashing and the soft chimes resonating off the walls.

Walking outside, we were dismayed to find that the weather had stayed bitterly cold, but added to the ambiance with a moderate snowfall. Goody. Most of the people in the building hung around the entrance waiting for the firemen to arrive, while a few of us stuck around in the vestibule to stay warm. (PG had no jacket and DS had no shoes.)

The firecrew arrived within several minutes and the situation was diffused. The most likely cause? A few mischevious kids pulling a prank. Ah well, what to do?

Dinner was up in the air. There was some sort of party going on at Hooters but the guys in my room weren't to enthused in going. We spent the time watching the Matrix and deciding on where to eat. PG tried to look up an Indian restaurant he had eaten at the last time he was in town, but by the time we found the name and location, it was already around eleven. We dropped that plan and went driving around instead. Eventually, we ended up at Ruby Tuesday's. The menu is exactly the same there as it was in Michigan! Ah well, at least we got back at a reasonable time.
