[1:40 AM EDT - Money house.]

One thing I forgot to mention last night was that although I read the e-mail message about start times and such, I forgot about all of that information (including the person running the thing) and only kept track of one detail: 9:30. This I thought was the start time for hockey, which was incorrect. It was actually the planned meeting time. The actual start time for hockey is ten, which meant that it ended at eleven, which meant that I was really tired by the end of the whole ordeal and was good enough reason for me not to go out that night.

Today, I got up late for some reason. Instead of spending the whole afternoon playing CS, I decided to set up an account in Money and try it out. Well, one thing led to another and I began to throw all of my accounting information into it. I've just barely scraped the surface and I've still got three accounts to put into the thing. Holy geez. It's too bad I can't directly import my Excel spreadsheet into the program that would've saved me a LOT of time. Oh well.

Anyway, all of that time spent on Money meant that I left TO a little later than I had planned. On the way to Waterloo, I came across two major construction zones on the 401. At the first one, the pavement had been removed, leaving a scarred, rough surface which had the dividing lines repainted to redirect traffic around the construction areas. Unfortunately, there were also older dividing lines which, due to the glare from the low lying sun, were hard to distinguish from the new lines. I was following one set of lines, while a minivan next to me was following the other set. This was fine for a while since the lines were spaced far enough apart that two vehicles could drive in between. Unfortunately, the construction zone was beginning to end and the dividing lines began to merge. This meant that our cars started drifting closer and closer together. I'm not sure if the minivan saw me or not, but I ended up slowing down so that he could pass. I could've sworn that I was following the correct lines (since most of the cars around me were using those guides) but anyone could've been mistaken.

There was another small construction area ahead where the pavement had again been removed. Again, the dividing lines had been repainted, and again the minivan followed a different set of lines than me. But this time, I made sure that I was folowing the correct ones (looking at the road at a different angle allows one to distinguish between the two sets) but this time the lines diverged so that the minivan went from being in front of me to the lane on my right. All of the other cars were following the same set of lines as I was, so I was pretty sure that the minivan driver was confused as all heck. This was very apparent since he (she?) was just drifting along with the lines. (With no turning signals or nothing.) Boy, I'm glad I got out of there in a hurry.

I actually arrived in the middle of the party. Food was just starting to be served, and I only knew a couple of people there. The house was nice and cozy, and apparently it's over a hundred years old! Dear lord! It was in pretty good shape for an old house, although she had put some work into fixing it up. MoB was there, and eventually FlyingS, HaremPresident, Rowan Redfern, and ALee showed up as well. I hung around for a few hours before driving MoB and FlyingS back to their respective abodes. I stuck around at FlyingS's place to make some phone calls and to watch him play some Harvest Moon. Every person I called wasn't home. Well, I guess I shouldn't have expected any of them to be in on a Saturday night. Oh well.

The drive back was uneventful. No near crashes due to sleep deprivation, but the gas light went on. Well, there was a sign stating that the three right lanes of the 401 were going to be closed near the 427. Considering what happened a couple of months ago, I decided to cut through three lanes and take the 427-209 bypass instead of risking another jam at the bottleneck. (Besides, there was heavy construction in that area which I noticed on the way to Waterloo.) The bypass was actually pretty fast. Maybe I should take that route more often?

Glad you made it back all right.
