Well I'll be. I never throught I'd run out of ports on my 4-port switch so quickly. *sigh* It's too bad. Had there been an 8-port router available I probably would've jumped on the opportunity. Alas, I was pressed to set up my LAN and had to settle with the 4-port instead. At least the last computer is a laptop and I only need to connect if it I have to do work or need to back up my stuff. Still, if I ever think of holding a LAN party..

why don't you relegate the low-traffic machines to a hub (non-switching) uplinked to the switch? my point being you do'nt HAVE to replace your switch just yet...

Eighteen dollars huh? I bet you'd be able to buy *checks prices on Grocery Gateway* a whole bag of cookies with that rebate! (Okay, maybe two.)
WRT to the hub idea, I don't have an extra hub/switch lying around to connect to my current switch. I could get one, but there's no need now since it's not a big deal, it's not like I link up my laptop to my network all the time (actually so far it's been twice in as many months). If I get a new computer though, I may get a new hub/switch although if I get a (8 or more-port) router, I won't have to worry about setting up one of my PCs as a router when I move out of the house (which was what I was planning to do with my current 4-port router). Then there's that cost/convenience thing.. Argh! Too much to think about! I'll leave that until the time comes.. *flips through catalogue anyway*
