[12:02 AM EDT - Burning, burning, burning..]

Keep those lasers burning! Eggcellant! After getting the CD-RW up and running, (it has a tendency of going flaky when it gets hot) I've started backing up my work stuff. It should be done in another ten minutes or so. After that, I can put everything back to where they came from and go to sleep!

Sleep.. perchance to dream..

[12:19 AM EDT - Eighty percent.]

Argh! girl walked in wondering why her network connection was down and I told her that I was using it for the laptop. So she went and did other stuff while I went to check on my burn. For some reason, the read buffer slowly started to decrease. I have no idea why it started to drop. But I was pretty much powerless to stop the problem because I didn't know what was causing it! Within a minute, the buffer was gone and I had lost the burn process. It was so close too! *kicks computer*

Of course, it only started dropping after girl started working on her computer.. *raises an eyebrow*

[12:37 AM EDT - The problem is this..]

I think I know what caused the burn problem. At the point where the process dies, the burner is trying to copy over a lot of small files over the network. For some reason, this is much slower to do than a single large file (in fact, it's a heck of a lot slower) so it wasn't able keep the buffer full. Since the buffer wasn't being maintained, it began to shrink, and due to the number of files, it wasn't able to make it to the next "big file" group before dying. Yay.

I'm transfering the files over now so I can do a local burn. After that, I'm going to bed. With the hiccups. *hiccup*

[10:06 AM EDT - Where has all the energy gone?]

Taking advantage of the good (albiet a little humid) weather, I biked to work this morning. After that painful ordeal, I have no ideal how I'm going to get back home! *slumps* I have no energy whatsoever, I think I drained all of my reserves and I'm running on fumes here. I haven't been tired so long in.. so long. Well, let's see if I can schedule in a exercise break this week. *checks calendar* Nope. Nope. Nope. Uhh.. nope. Hmm, maybe I'll just have to relearn how to sleep with my eyes open? (And fingers typing.)

Oh hey, Growly passed over a link to a high school database which is getting rather large. *looks for high school* What the.. no Woburn?!? Where is the justice? *logs off*

[10:46 AM EDT - Google search.]

Yup, the google search engine is pretty good! It found references on my site for some stuff but it did not find any of the journal hits, which is exactly what I wanted! (Since I already have a search engine for the journal.) Speaking of which, I've been meaning to revamp the search engine for a while now. I had some ideas to some new features which I haven't put into place yet. I hope I wrote them down somewhere..

[7:26 PM EDT - Home on the range..]

We just had steak for dinner. Ick. I never liked steak. There are only a couple of times that I actually had steak and enjoyed it. One of those times was in Calgary a couple of years ago when the meat just melted in my mouth.. *smacks lips*

But apart from that, I usually avoid eating steak. Gross.

Oh yeah, as you can see, I somehow managed to make it back home on my own power. Fancy that. I even was able to back up my work. Golly gee.

Laz is probably a little anxious about the impending arrival while KGL's been doing work. Umm, that's about it. I think the Leaf's game is on right now.
