[11:51 AM EDT - Sunny and clear.]

What an amazing day it is outside! Wow. This is going to bode well for the roller hockey game later this afternoon (which is after volleyball). Oh boy, I'm going to be so dirty afterward.. I wonder if I'll have time to clean up before going to the party?

Yup, there's a birthday party that I'm going to tonight, and then there's the Leaf game, and.. boy, this is just going to be jam packed day isn't it?

Anyway, before I go and get ready, there are some things I forgot to mention before. First of all, I found out that one of the companies that our parent (?) company works with did all of the tolling stuff for the 407. Cool beans, I didn't know that. Well, I think they need to improve the technology a bit since they missed out one instance when I went on the highway! *pockets the six dollars* (Well, it's kind of moot since it's a business expense anyway.)

Something I read in the paper this morning was an entertaining article in the Toronto Star about why Estonian women were all so good looking. *oogles at the pictures* Actually, they're pretty I guess, but.. I'd rather go down and check it myself! *winks*

Finally, has anyone out there used the callback feature? That's when you call up someone and get a busy signal. You can use that feature so that when the line is freed, the company will automatically call both parties. This comes in handy when you're trying to call to some number that's usually busy. I never use it though, it costs money (95 cents I think). Well, last week sometime after I hung up the phone, it rang immediately, but was greeted by a busy signal. "Let bell notify you.." Ha ha, I guess callback isn't very useful if YOUR phone is busy all the time!

Erk, must get cleaned up..

[Sunday, April 29, 2001: BV, RH, and BPs.]

First business of the day: Beach volleyball. We had a good number of people show up at the game, although most of them showed up an hour late, but that was alright, we had enough substitues from other games to make our match interesting. (Mind you, they sucked as much as we did so we weren't that embarassed.) I did end up pulling one of neck muscles during the first dive. *twists head* It's still sore..

I noticed in the party court next to us that there were a bunch of kids (all girls, and around twelve of them) playing around in the sand. A couple or them were out in our court stealing sand since it was wet (and cold) having been recently sprayed.. actually, I don't know why they wet the sand. Does anyone out there have a reason why?

Well, anyway, they were playing around there for a while, but the next time I checked, I could've sworn that the kids were suddenly a lot taller. Ahh, it was a different group (of girls) in the court. I only mention this because during that time period, Macarena was being played over the sound system, and the majority of the girls started to do the Macarena. *smacks forehead* It just won't die!!

<- looks away in disgust.

The highlight of the volleyball session was the fate of the Mikasa volleyball. As the celing of the buidling was exposed, there were I-beams above us just under the corregated steel roof. Over our court, there was a volleyball that was wedged in between one of I-beams and the roof. How it got there, we couldn't tell, but it's been there since the group has been playing volleyball there.

There are now two. A massive bump from one of our players happened to knock the ball up to the spot where the other volleyball was, and since it was moving horizontally at the time (off the wall, at the height of its arc) it slid neatly into the space between the I-beam and roof and got stuck, forty feet above us. Goody.

Attempts to dislodge the hapless ball (with a shoe or water bottle) proved ineffective, although entertaining. Let me use VK's explanation:

hrm...last volleyball game was interesting...well, we lost our good friend Mikasa last game. Yep, Mikasa is now stuck between an I-beam and the ceiling and is a permanent part of North Beach Indoor Volleyball till he comes down in months or years. Hey, we tried to get Mikasa back...several engineers and a lawyer put their heads together and it was the lawyer who decided to get his gatorade bottle filled with water, and then toss this nicely weighted object up behind Mikasa to free him. It was a mighty toss up into the rafters...and then the unthinkable happened. The gatorade bottle hit the top part of the I-beam and landed completely upright, sitting on the lower, inner part of the flange that makes the I-beam! It was amazing! After that, North Beach staff got pissed off at us and told us to stop before someone gets hurt, but anyways we're out one good volleyball now.

I would like to add that the water bottle also lost it's cap when it hit the I-beam, so a gentle tap from another volleyball will probably result in a shower for the people below! (I hope VK doesn't kill me for throwing this up.)

Afterward, I headed out to play roller hockey (which started right after beach ball ended) armed with my new hockey stick. On the way there, I ended up at Yonge and Eglington, just as three fire trucks and two other fire department vehicles pulled up to the building on the NW corner. (I nearly rammed into one of the fire trucks which was going towards me on my side of the street. I tried to pull to the side, but he had already started driving down the side so I had to pull back into the middle.) Where was the fire? I didn't see any smoke..

I still made it on time, only to find out that we were playing on half of the court until five-thirty. Icky. It was okay, since most people didn't show up until later, although we had a LOT of people by the time the entire court was available to us. One of the newer players that came out had obviously not played much. He fell (and crashed into the fence) more times than everyone else combined this year! (Probably last year as well.)

We had to leave early because I wanted to shower before going to the first birthday party. The usual suspects were there, and I got there in time to hear about the 4-1 deficit that the Leafs had gotten into. Doh! I ended up watching the rest of the game, despite NY's heckling.

Afterward, we headed out to meet up with another group of birthday partiers at.. Taste of Japan? We got there just at last call, so I had to make a snappy order. I ordered too much food though, I couldn't finish fast enough before leaving for bubbles. (Well, I basically got my food when everyone else finished, so I felt guilty eating while everyone was waiting. Besides, I can't eat fast!)

girl noticed that I was the only person wearing a red jacket in a sea of black. Actually, everyone else was wearing dark (mostly black) attire. I kind of stuck out in my blue jeans, white T-shirt, and red jacket. Damn I'm a freak.

The group went to (the packed) Ten Ren's for tea. I decided not to order after hearing the horror story, although I did partake in some shaved ice cream. Well, we didn't actually eat in the tea house, but just outside, in the food court so that we could play cards and chat in a (much less) smokey environment.

To my surprise, there was a couple that walked past our group. One of them looked like LC! I tried shouting LC's name a couple of times, but got no response. I was a little trapped in the group so I couldn't go out and follow, but I figured that they'd be back the same way eventually. girl didn't notice so couldn't confirm my sighting so I waited. I caught sight of them again as they were passing by, and tried again. No response, but this time I got a much better look and was sure that it was LC. girl disagreed, but I've seen the kid recently so I know that it WAS LC. I definitely have to confirm on Monday.

Finally it was time to go. A couple of them were going to go out to karaoke, but I was way too tired to continue. I went home and crashed.
