[11:37 AM EDT - No insight.]

I've been looking at the specs for the Honda Insight and I must say, this car is underpowered. Sixty-seven horsepower at 5700 rpm (75 including the assist) pushing a 852 kg car is.. a little weak. (Gutless as Dusty said.)

Ah well, you don't buy a car like that for performance.

Looking at it, I'd have to say you don't buy a car like that for its looks either.

True.. it's no powerhouse.. it takes 12 seconds to go from 0-100 km/hr.

BUT.. it does feature a top speed of 180 km/h, which is quite good, especially so for such nice fuel efficiency. Oh, and that 852 kg is with aircon.. it's 835 kg without it.

You mean 75 hp, right?

Yeah, 75hp with the electric assist, but it's still fairly underpowered. I'm also a little skeptical about the 180kph top speed, but in any case, it doesn't really matter, because how often will you be going at those speeds? What's more important is acceleration, especially when you're merging with traffic on a highway.

Perhaps an ethanol-petrol hibrid is more your speed.

Hmmm.. 75 hp is REALLY weak.. the Echo has 108 hp (weighs ~940 kg). At the other end of the spectrum, a Porsche 911 Turbo has 415 hp (!) and weighs in around 1540 kg.

Remember, though, that the Insight has a very low coefficient of drag (0.25), which I guess helps at the higher speeds.

Trivia : The Insight is covered by over 300 patents.

Whu-... who needs to accelerate from ZERO to 100kph to merge!? You think you're a pinball or something?
