[8:53 AM EDT - Another early morning.]

This is another early morning for me. As such, I ended up with quite a long dream, but it is broken up in so many tiny fragments that there is no point for me to even attempt to recall what transpired in my mind.

So I have the day off tomorrow and I need to do something special with MJNL tonight. Any suggestions?

(Okay, there really is no point in me in asking now, but we are going out for dinner somewhere..)

[9:27 AM EDT - So that is what is in our tap water.]

Ever since MJNL has seen my place, she told me to stop drinking tap water. Why not? I would ask. Because of the stuff that is in our tap water (other than the water itself). I personally have faith in our water supply system, and I figured that if it has not killed me yet, that I should be okay until I get older.

However, I was convinced to steal my parent's Brita filter and I have been drinking the filtered water ever since. (Yes, I also bought new filters - eventually.)

Well, one day, a certain person had started boiling a pot of water and had forgotten about it. About forty-five minutes later (I am estimating here since I did not see the stove being turned on), I looked at the stove and wondered why it was left on (at maximum). I heard a quick exclamation, and someone rushed to the stove, picked up the bone dry pot, and brought it to the sink. The water was turned on full blast, and instantly vapourized when it came into contact with the pot. This went on for a good ten seconds before water started to collect inside. In the back of my mind, I was thinking of using the water from the Brita filter or even just letting the pot air cool, as I knew that there would be some sort of residue that the water would leave after it evapourated, especially when so much water had been reduced.

But by then it was already too late so I watched as the bottom of the pot slowly turned black. We tried to wash the pot afterwards with soap and with vinegar, with limited success. Some of the black crud came off at the beginning, but at this point I expect that it will take a lot of work to remove the remainder of this residue.

I'll take a photo later so you can see for yourself. Should I just get a new pot?

[Friday, October 26, 2007: Sandals for the flip flop.]

It was GWG's birthday on Thursday but I had taken the day off and so we decided to give him his present today. I mentioned earlier that I was looking for a pair of 'flip-flops' but failed. I picked up some sandals instead, and eventually found a fitting pair of 'flip-flops' that were a little too small.

The 'flip-flops' were yellow, and had ladybugs on them. I wanted bees, as this went along with the motif of his yellow and black bike (and gear). When he first walked in to work with his new yellow jacket, we immediately named him the "'Bumblebee'".

The 'flip-flops' also related to the bike in another sense as he had adamantly insisted that he would never get a motorcycle last year. Now that he has a motorcycle, he is thinking of getting rid of it next year. It is not the only thing he has changed his mind on, but it fits perfectly.

The sandals that I had mistakenly bought also worked towards the present. While curling a couple of weekends ago, GWG was positioned in the hack and just fell over. We gave the sandals to him (which were about the right size) so that he would have some grip while in the hack and not have any problems with slipping.

Unfortunately, when we gave him the 'flip-flops', he had no idea what they were so the joke was lost on him. Even after we told him what they were, we had to explain the joke. At least with the sandals, I did a lead up to explain why we gave him the sandals. I am pretty sure they are now in some 'Goodwill Industries' dumpster somewhere..

[Friday, October 26, 2007: We own Ginko.]

We went to Ginko on a recommendation by Garfield. Actually, that is not entirely true. Garfield told us about the best sushi that he has ever had in the city, but did not remember the name of the restaurant (despite repeated attempts to find out). MJNL remembered the hotel that Garfield mentioned as well as the location and was able to find a Japanese restaurant in the same hotel. It think we got the right one. Secondly, we did not go there for sushi. We decided to have 'Teppanyaki' instead.

We went to have a dinner for two, which was fairly entertaining, but there were only three of us sitting at the table. The guy at the far end of the table had ordered basically the same stuff that we did, except that there were two of us and one of him! The food was really tasty, as we got the steak, lobster, shrimp, and scallops. I do not think anything was bad. Heck even the salad was really tasty! The dressing they used was much different than the usual dressing I have seen at other Japanese restaurants. It is similar, but not as sharp, but still tasty.

After dinner, the two of us went out to watch a movie since we had a two for one coupon. MJNL wanted to watch 'Why Did I Get Married?' but it was not playing at 'Yorkdale Shopping Centre' so we watched 'We Own the Night' instead. When we got to the theatre, we found out that the coupon was only valid for Monday nights! I bit the bullet and paid the full price to see this feature anyway. The movie itself was okay. I was left feeling empty afterwards, as I have been with virtually all of the movies that I have seen in the the past.. decade. Does Mark Wahlberg do anything but cop or special agent roles?

<- Checks IMDB.

Okay, I guess so.

I went home afterwards and was pretty tired so I pretty much went straight to bed. (Despite having the day off the next day.)
