[Sunday, November 11, 2007: Turduken Bonspiel.]

AC had been talking for months about 'Turducken' and today was the day that he finally got around to making it. Actually, he started making it on Friday night, finished it and threw it into the oven at 6AM on Saturday, and it was done cooking around thirteen hours later.

So he held a party and invited a whole bunch of people out. I came over early on my way to the 'Bonspiel', to see how things were going but at that time the 'Turducken' was still cooking in the oven. I stayed for a few minutes before heading down to the 'Bonspiel' where I met up with GWG, EK, P and Derelict (who showed up a little later). I was not in the mood to curl so I declined to participate. I did however, borrow GWG's camera and took some videos and pictures of the first game. I hung around during the break to play some 'Euchre' before heading back to AC's place.

I did get a call from BL this afternoon asking me if I was up for something, but since my schedule was so packed, I told her to keep me informed. When I got the call at eight, I knew that there was no way for me to meet up with the rest of the group so I stayed at AC's place and tasted all of the available food.

Oh boy, there was so much food.

When I got back to AC's place, the 'Turducken' was pretty much gone. I was really surprised seeing that there were only a dozen or so people there, but more and more people continued to arrive. CY showed up so I actually knew someone else apart from AC. I did end up getting a large plate of 'Turducken' to try out. It was really good! The stuffing and meat were well done, and so tasty! In addition, all the sides were home made and very tasty as well! 'Butternut squash' soup, 'Sweet potato' fries, 'Bruschetta', salads, vegetarian 'Ravioli', etc. It was quite a feast! AC tried to time it with the 'American Thanksgiving'. Which basically turned this party into a 'Thanksgiving' meal.

In any case, the food was excellent. Everything was well prepared and extremely good. I asked him later if he would do it again and he promptly told me that he would never make 'Turducken' again because they completely underestimated the amount if time and work that was involved. Ah well.

One more thing I wanted to note was that AC was of south Asian descent, but everyone at the party (save one who was of African descent) was Chinese, or at least East Asian. I mean, I expected at least one token white guy to have shown up..

After the meal, I headed home so that I could pick up my hockey equipment and go to hockey. I had ridden down to the 'Bonspiel' because the weather was not too bad.

Hockey did not go as well as we only had six skaters, and I played on the ice the entire game. It was good exercise though.
