Laz has been bugging me to install Prey for a number of weeks now. I've had it for a while but I've been putting it off since I haven't really had time to do any sort of gaming.
Well, he forced me to install it on Saturday and the game kept crashing. I was ready to uninstall the program, but he insisted on getting it working, so I let him play around with it while I was watching Battlestar Galactica. After thirty minutes or so, he was able to determine that a faulty driver was causing the issue and after a driver upgrade, everything was working. I did not have time to play however as I had to rush to my hockey game, but I came back home and tried it for a bit.
It seemed like a standard FPS, but then the aliens came. Okay, I've seen these types of plots before. But then I started seeing things walking on the walls and ceilings..
I had not heard anything about this game before so I was surprised when I saw how the game was designed with no fixed notion of "down" Indeed, with the multiple portals, there isn't even a fixed concept of "here". I can see how some people suffered from vertigo while playing this game. It also makes playing it a little more challenging as you cannot tell where things are coming from, although the game is pretty good with leading the player through the puzzles, of which there are quite a few.
I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm still very much at the beginning of the game. We'll see how far I can get..

The server will be down today again while the power is cut in the building. I should be back earlier tonight so I can get the site up and running with less downtime.
