[6:53 PM EST - Well, there's your problem.]

I was wondering why I wasn't able to access my server today. I came back home and found out that the power came back about eight hours ago. This would indicate that the power had been out for about two hours. That's quite a long time.

Speaking of power, the condo will be shutting down power to my building next week for two days! The power will be out during the day (from nine to four) which is okay, except for the fact that my server will not be up and running.

At least I'll know ahead of time.

In addition, the power will be out on the 23rd for four hours. This is all because the condominium is switching hydro providers. We'll see if it gets any cheaper (and more reliable).

[Friday, November 3, 2006: Driving Conditions: Watch your back.]

It is getting really cold out there. My biking tours are getting a little bit tougher each time I get out onto the road. I still have not picked up a pair of winter riding pants and my jeans are certainly not providing enough protection against the elements.

In any case, I was riding to work and tried to avoid traffic by taking the little side routes. When I turned back towards the main road, I ended up behind this car that was stopped at the intersection. I signaled to turn right and began inching towards the right to make my turn, but then something happened. The white lights appeared on the back of the car in front. It took me a full three seconds before I realized that this guy was actually thinking of backing up. I looked around and didn't see any free parking spots around, so I wasn't in the way except for the fact that I was right behind him. Some other guy had just walked out of the coffee shop and was crossing the street right next to the car (and in front of me). As the car began moving backwards, he started shouting out to the car to tell him to stop, and I started honking my horn: *honk* *Honk* *HONK*.

The driver finally noticed me on the third honk. He was only a few inches from my bike. That was a little close.
