[8:22 AM EST - False alarm.]

I was having trouble sleeping, but I did eventually drift off into dream land. I had some strange nightmare which had a loud wailing noise. I woke up from my slumber and realized that the loud noise was actually not in my dream. This was the first time I heard this sound in my apartment before, but I knew what it was: the fire alarm.

I didn't know of any drills taking place, and at 1:30 in the morning, I didn't think the condo would schedule a drill at this time. When I looked outside and saw a fire truck approach with full lights, I decided that I should go out and investigate.

I quickly dressed and headed into the hallway. There were a number of people in their nightwear sticking their heads out of the doors to see what was going on. I wandered by to see if anyone knew anything but everyone was in the dark. One lady told me that there have been a number of false alarms before, but I had not been present for them.

I decided to go downstairs to find out if this was real or not. There were a number of people in the foyer in various states of dress, while the concierge was talking with one of the firemen. I asked the fireman if he knew if this was a false alarm, but he wasn't sure either way.

Since I was down there, I picked up my mail. I hung around for several minutes before the rest of the firepeople showed up. Apparently one of the fire alarm switches was loose and triggered the alarm. False alarm.

I went back to bed, but it took me a long time to drift back to sleep.

[8:27 AM EST - Oh how happy.]

There has been this jingle that has been bouncing around in my head for the past several weeks. The commercial comes on the radio fairly often, but I usually don't pay too much attention so I never found out who it was for, but the tune and words somehow entered my subconscious.

When I went for lunch yesterday, I heard the jingle being played over their speakers. It took a while before I recognized the jingle, and another moment to realize that it was an actual song! A quick search on the Internet revealed that it was indeed a real song: Oh How Happy by Art Garfunkel.

Now I can't get it out of my head. This is irritating!

[8:50 AM EST - All bills and junk.]

I took a quick look at the mail I picked up and noticed that it was all either junk mail or bills.

Lots of bills.

Over two thousand dollars worth of bills.

This is going to be a very cheap Christmas.

[Monday, November 27, 2006: Birthday beats.]

It was JSL's birthday on the 23rd, so a few of us (Durka, . and I) took the boy out to dinner and a night of gaming and drinking.

I stayed at work until dinner time. I had a huge lunch so I was planning on not eating, but I was told that they were going to do the hotpot thing, which would make it difficult for me not to eat since it is all you can eat. I don't think you're allowed to sit around in an all you can eat restaurant and not pay.

Fortunately for me, when I got there, they had changed venues and we ended up at the ramen restaurant. Actually, it was more like spaghetti in soup restaurant. Tasty, and much easier on the wallet.

Afterwards, I went home to drop off my bike before meeting the group (plus MIBAgentQ) at Dave and Busters. R6_Chic pounced on us while we were there but did not have by shirt. Grr..

We hung around for a couple of hours before playing pool for another couple of hours. That's when I decided to head home. I needed sleep!
