[Monday, February 6, 2006: It was wet all right.]

I got up at a decent time this morning and got ready to patrol. The forecast was warmish and overcast, but a winter storm warning was issued for the afternoon and overnight, so I was a little worried that it might hit the hill while I was out there.

I passed by an accident on the way up. Some car had plowed into a street sign indicating the end of the road. The roads weren't icy, although they were a bit wet. I guess they didn't brake in time?

The day was fairly eventful with a bunch of incidents over the day. There was one point where I was getting on the lift, and was informed by the liftee that there was this girl who wanted to get on with me because she didn't want to go up alone. I didn't have any problems with that, so I chatted with her on the way up. Apparently her friend went up without her and they were a bit lost.

I was interrupted by a call and was told to look out for twins wearing a white jacket and turquoise pants.

<- looks over at the girl.

How serendipitous! Apparently the second girl was waiting at the top of the hill, so everything fell into place, and for so little work! (Although herding them down the hill was harder than I expected.)

Anyway, not long after, it started to snow. I figured that the storm would just blow a lot of snow, which was okay, I guess since rain would just suck. I started talking to one guy on the lift and he mentioned that the weather was supposed to rise, and half an hour later, the snow had turned to ice pellets, and then rain. Boy did it rain! I was soaked through after spending some time on the hill and there was no way I was going to dry off in the hut. I spent the next couple of hours in my wet clothes as the hill was closing early (although my shift had already ended). I was lucky that we didn't get a cold snap, or I would've been very uncomfortable. My fingers were already feeling a bit frosty though.

It was all good though. It felt so nice to get into some dry clothes when I got home.

Laz came by to pick up the hard drive and I showed him my new system and made some dinner.

Afterward I went to the hockey game. I didn't play all that well, but it didn't change the outcome much.
