[2:21 AM EST - Blown bulb and high humidity.]

I got home after patrolling today and turned on the light to my bedroom. The light went on and suddenly went out. I tried the switch again, but the lights won't come back on. Crap, I blew the bulb(s).

I also hung up all of my wet clothing amongst various places in my condo. The humidity in my unit went up from 20% to 31% in just a few hours! (And the clothes are still wet!)

I was tempted to throw everything into the dryer, but that's so expensive..

I've also did an upgrade and fix to the server. There was something wrong with the hard drive for some time now, and I needed to fix it with fsck. I didn't realize that you needed to mount the drive in read only mode to run the program, so I didn't bother doing it. Well, that was until the machine decided not to boot on me. fortunately, it was kind enough to do all the steps for me and just ask me if I wanted to fix the problem. "Y". Yay! Three times more efficient than typing "yes".

[11:34 AM EST - To yEnc or not to yEnc?]

I was doing a bit of trolling and I've been seeing a lot of yEnc encoded files on Usenet. I also found this page saying why yEnc isn't the solution for posting binaries on Usenet.

[2:02 PM EST - Two coasters and a DVD.]

I ended up making two coasters this morning before I finally burned my first DVD! Yay! I can start backing up some of this old data I have..

[5:34 PM EST - Setup and transfer.]

I've been spending most of the day setting up my new machine and reorganizing my data. The DVD drive has come in quite handy as well. I've got a bunch of things to back up still, and lots of files to move around, but I got invited out to a Superbowl party at Squishy's place so I think I'll be going to that right now..

[Monday, February 6, 2006: Superbowl chili.]

I wandered over to Squishy's place where she was having a small gathering to watch the Superbowl. Actually, I went there to eat the chili and have some cheesecake (although I hate cheesecake). Small was pretty much an understatement. There were four people there including me. Actually, another guy showed up after the half time show, but that was about it. It was all good though, KB started up a few small bets just to get us into the game. Had he not done that, I don't think I really would've rooted for anyone, but once I had a dollar on the line, I cheered (or jeered) after each play. (I was in the black in the end.)

The food was filling and it was a nice night out. (And not overly expensive - the winnings nearly paid off for the gas.)
