[3:26 PM EST - Crazy Eddie.]

I just finished off The Mote in God's Eye. It's a good book, but hard to read if you don't like getting into the details of the science.

One thing that struck me as peculiar was the fact that the 'CoDominium' alternate history is a universe where Laz and my gaming ideas could take place: Limited jump points, mostly scientifically correct, etc. Well, if I have the time I'll go back to looking into that game idea.

[6:16 PM EST - A simple solution for an "annoying problem".]

I've been having some difficulties with dealing with double quotes on my journal entry form. The way I had it set up converted those double quotes to ", which is okay, except some of those quotes are true double quotes! Then I had it set up so it converted all double quotes to true double quotes (even the ") but only if I came back from a preview. I've since figured out how to get around that issue by taking that step as a special occurrence and double encode the text as the browsers seemed to convert it anyway. (The htmlentities function came in handy there.)

[7:11 PM EST - Look at the filter.]

I went down to the front desk and asked if I could take a look at one of the filters that they were selling. The concierge showed me the filter and I was surprised as to how simple it was. It was just a white fiberglass mesh wrapped around a wire frame. I'm going to go and see if I can find a good filter that will meet my 'heat pump''s specs. (I'm using cheap ones right now.)

[7:15 PM EST - Page coding.]

I was able to pull myself away from one addiction and started working on some changes to the website. I've fixed a couple of bugs that were bothering me, but now the rest of the stuff I've got will take a while to complete. Hmm, should I learn to use GD or work on XML?
