[10:23 AM EST - Cloaked.]

My bird of prey disappeared. It was sitting on my stand near the window last time I looked, but that was ages ago. A quick scan of the area didn't show anything, and I don't have any witnesses. Crap. Maybe it cloaked and slipped away?

[10:28 AM EST - I'm missing something..]

I keep thinking that I forgot something. It's been bothering me for a while.

Ah well, it might've been the dream I had this morning, which I have long since forgotten. It might be something that's bothering me that's just slipped my mind. It might be something I'm supposed to do that.. oh yeah. I'm supposed to do something. *rubs chin*

I've got hair to cut and a bank to visit.

[10:34 AM EST - Formal.]

Oh yeah, remind me to wear a suit tomorrow.

[10:45 AM EST - Speeding up.]

Oops, I had forgotten to switch the network speed back to auto detect. I've got a number of cables at home that can't handle the fast ethernet connection so I force it to run at only 10Mbps. I was wondering why my connections were so slow..

[10:49 AM EST - Hours of exercise.]

Badminton last night was okay. Not all that many people showed up, but that's to be expected considering the weather. I didn't play all that bad, but I could've done better. A little exercise would've been good too, especially after hearing about Squishy's hard core training on the weekends. (I get sore just listening to the regimen!)

Hmm.. I didn't talk about the party either..

[10:56 AM EST - Ork out.]

Hmm, I was just going to check out orkut when I found out that it was temporarily down. I guess I'll have to wait..

[11:16 AM EST - Screened calls.]

Ah ha! I finally got screen up and running on my system and now it'll automatically load when mutt is run! Woot! No worries with broken connections now..

I had to step out of the room to talk with LY for a minute. In that very short time span, my cell phone rang. Very few people ever call me on my cell, and it's rarer still for me to have it on me when people do call. Unfortunately, I don't have call display and the person didn't leave any messages so it's really bothering me. Who could it have been? *scratches head*

[11:35 AM EST - Riding this coaster..]

So.. here I am again. Same spot. Different time. Different people. One can say the fate has conspired against me yet again, but it was I who chose this path, so is it fate or is it choice? Ahh, another discussion for another time. I knew the consequences of my actions and I knew that events may have unfolded this way, as they could have gone either way. Although I'm pretty sure what the outcome will be, I still need a definitive answer. I'm not deciding for others this time.

[11:38 AM EST - Screening my updates as well.]

Ah ha! I can screen my updates so I won't lose any entries due to communication breakdowns. That's always a good thing, although technically I should update my entries the other way.

[2:47 PM EST - Driving Conditions: Building up positive karma.]

Well, the lunch challenge has been postponed yet again. I didn't mention it until now because of the possibility that it would be canceled for one reason or another, and it seems as if my hunch paid off!

Anyway, on the way back from picking up lunch, I saw a SUV lose control behind me as it turned onto the main street and then ride over the snow embankment on the side of the road. I watched and saw that it was stuck there so I stopped the car and threw the hazard lights on. I backed up a bit, got out of the car, and went to see if the driver was alright.

She seemed fine, although the car was definitely stuck. Watching as she tried backing up, all four of her wheels spun ineffectively as the car barely shuddered. Unfortunately, I didn't have any salt available, and I don't carry any carpet on me. However, I still had the carpeted floor mats which came with the car. I threw them in the trunk when I installed the rubber mats because I didn't have any better place to put them. So I brought my car up, popped the trunk, and extracted the two mats. I slid one behind each of the rear wheels of the SUV (I couldn't access the front tires) and told the lady to try to back up again. After a couple of tries, the mats got caught under the car and she was able to pull herself off the embankment.

She was thanking me profusely from her window as I went over to pick up my (now wet and muddy) mats and deposited them back into the trunk. Then I went back on my way. Ahh, doesn't that just give you that warm fuzzy feeling down in the cockles of your heart?

[6:47 PM EST - Lights out. Again.]

Not long after I finished eating lunch, I was on the phone with a client, when suddenly the power went out. I was lucky that my network connection was still up and the phone lines were still working so that I could still communicate and complete the conversation. But the power stayed out.

Now, this was rather unfortunate, because it was not just our building which lost power, but the entire block was affected. Worries of yet another massive power outtage came out, but some people had prepared themselves after the last time the lights went out.

Too bad I wasn't. I hadn't filled up my tank and the fuel light was on. Fortunately, I knew that there was power outside of our area, so all I needed to do was find a away out and to a nearby gas station. Too bad it was snowing like a.. well, it was snowing really badly. Traffic had slowed to a crawl, and I was eating up my gas keeping the car warm and idling.

We were let out early, so that saved us from the brunt of rush hour, and I was fortunate enough to be able to make it out of the traffic jam and worm my way to a nearby station to fill up, but I was a little worried there. Afterward I headed down to the hair salon (which was strangely empty) and got my hair cut. I found out that broomball was canceled tonight after i got home, and obviously there wouldn't be any snowboarding tonight.

So.. I'm staying home, and reading some more mouse stories. Well, rereading that is. It's time to look at the small details..

[Wednesday, January 28, 2004: Phone checkup.]

I made a call at the usual time and was surprised to get an answer. It was good though, and it definitely got me to listen for very soft sounds. Things got a lot easier when I turned off my comupter (and the sonic jet engine CPU fan that's running in it).

But one thing that was mentioned in the conversation brought me back to one of those Lessons Learned I had:

"I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in."

But I hate being annoying! Although I'll probably try calling more often.
