[Sunday, October 12, 2003: The other birthday party.]

After Laz and Tenshi left, I got caught up on some bookkeeping before heading downtown to Stonaday's party. I wasn't sure how long I was going to stay down there since I had a hockey game that night too. Eventually, I figured that I only go to birthday parties once every year (for each birthday, duh) so hockey could wait until next week.

Anyway, I found out that the party was being held at the same building that BMH and KW were living at, except it was one of the penthouses. Nice.

I parked in the usual spot and tried the buzzer. Nobody answered. I tried again. Nothing. Fortunately, I did write down Stonaday's cell number. I gave him a call, and found out that their buzzer thing wasn't working all that well (or wasn't on or whatever since I wasn't the only one with that problem).

So I got there, and I saw the usual group as well as a lot of new people. (One was exceptionally cute, but I never got to talk to her: She left early. *shakes fist*)

Anyhoo, it was a fairly big party. About thirty people showed up and we played a game called "Mafia". I had not played it before, but it was very similar to "Murder" with some extra twists. Mind you, I was the first one to get lynched so I was out of the game very early. I'll just remember that reverse psychology doesn't work on a mob.

The Murder won actually, and it was quite interesting to see how the people interacted in the game. How alliances were formed, and how groups stuck together (for a little while). Remind me never to put myself into a situation like that.

There was a lot of food (as always this time of the year) and I probably should've had more had I not given myself a sugar high from all of that cake I ate. *urp*

One interesting part of the night was when Stonaday gave everyone with a birthday in October a shot of port and explained his little birthday tradition (which he got from "Mad About You") about walking around the block with some port and to reminisce on the good things in life (or something to that effect). It's a neat idea actually.

As the party wound down, a couple of the guys broke out the chessboard and played a couple of games. Since I hadn't played in many years, I decided not to embarass myself and held off from joining in. (Although it didn't stop me from making comments. =)

Eventually, we ended up talking about game theory (based on the "Mafia" game we had just played) before heading home.

I drove DeeL and KH back home but stuck to the side streets since I'm still braking in the car. I hope I didn't scare them both from my crazy driving though..

Hmm. Who's the girl? Melissa? I think she was taken? Juliette was definitely taken.
