[12:27 AM EDT - Be vewy, vewy quiet..]

I was testing out the new case I picked up and was disappointed when I couldn't boot up the TX motherboard with it. I could feel the fan running, but I didn't hear anything so I thought the power supply was pooched. I left it so that I could dump it later.

Before I finished up with the computer stuff, I decided to test out one of the FX boards with the case's power supply, and presto! It was up and running! So that means that the power supply works, and that means it's really quiet. Quiet would be an understatement. It's inaudible! I think I'll put the server in there no? It's a bit larger than my current minicase, but it's still a mini. The big bonus is the noise. People have complained about sleeping in the computer room because of the noise from the power supply fan, so if this one works, I think this should assauge those comments non?

Oh yeah, it seems like the extra memory works in Theophany. There was one strange thing that happened with my system. Because of the positioning of the RAM slots and the AGP slot, one or more of the RAM slots could be partially blocked by the graphics card. In my case, one was. The only empty slot. *shakes fist* To get the memory in, I had to remove the graphics card.

What happened afterward was that the screen resolution went from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024. Wha..? What surprised me more was the fact that the monitor settings were also reset. It thought my 21" was a 15" LG monitor! I guess something got reset when I put in the memory and pulled out the graphics card. I don't know why or how. At least it's working now.

[12:56 AM EDT - News Bytes: Dogs, Pirates, and Tethers.]

I went by the ShackNews today and came across three articles I wanted to list. The first is about some strange marriage. The second is about Orrin Hatch's site using pirated software (you knew someone was going to look didn't you?). The third is about the use of tethers in space.

[10:19 AM EDT - You wanna dance?]

Apparently girl's going dancing on the 5th.

I forgot to mention that I played ultimate last night. We had two games scheduled, but I only made it to the later one. (Which we lost.) Ironically enough, we beat the first team by a large margin (which I didn't get to participate in) but we lost the second game close (the one that I played in). *rubs chin*

[11:08 AM EDT - Plugs and glue.]

Well, I've picked up those plugs for the case fans. Now all I need is some glue to attach the CPU fan to the CPU. Then I should have all the parts to put together my new (and hopefully better) system!

The fact that the machine is still running is a good sign. Hopefully things will be good for many years to come. (Actually, with this upgrade, I can actually upgrade my version of Redhat - but do I really need to?)

[2:24 PM EDT - Goodbye to Friendly's.]

Well, we (Laz, MCC, and I) had our final lunch at Friendly's today. We got some extra fries and gravy! Sweet!

I got this helicopter link from PRQ.

[4:38 PM EDT - Network's going down.]

Well, the network's going down at five, so I better pack up. There isn't much else I can do but pack up now. Time to head home..

[7:59 PM EDT - Switching shells.]

I'm going to be switching cases now. Hopefully I don't screw anything up in the process. *thinks* Maybe I should just test out the CDROMs instead It's not like I'm in any rush to move right?

[8:04 PM EDT - No lock.]

Unfortunately, my new box doesn't have a keyboard lock. I found it very useful when using a server to have some sort of keyboard lock so that people don't accidentally rebot the machine or anything else. *rubs chin* Maybe I could use the turbo switch as the keyboard lock. It's not like it's being used for anything else..

[8:30 PM EDT - At least the switch box works.]

Well, I know that the switch box works. It's too bad the connections are all AT, but fortunately, I found a lot of AT keyboard cables lying around. This should at least remove some clutter from the computer room since I can get Yavin and BEGghILOS2 to share a keyboard and monitor (BEGghILOS2 doesn't need a mouse). The case fan's in place and I still have to figure out how to attach the CPU fan. Maybe I'll just test the CDROMs instead.

[9:49 PM EDT - Bad batch.]

I did a quick check on the model numbers for my CDROMs and quickly realized that two of the four CDROMs I had were actually SCSI! Argh, that left two CDROMs. One which I plugged in and realized wouldn't open. I couldn't manually open it either, so I tried the other one. Unfortunately that didn't recognize any CDs I put i. Dejected, I took them out. I decided to take apart the CDROM that wouldn't open and plugged a case fan into Yavin (There was a spot and I have many extra fans now). I would be transfering BEGghILOS2 over into the new case, but I don't have enough time before my hockey game tonight. I still have to pack!

For now all I'll do is set up the switch and make sure everything's in working order before I head out. I'll try cleaning up later. Oh yeah, I picked up a P166 MMX processor. It seems to work. I think I'll be using it for a test machine (with only 8MB of RAM I won't be testing much.) What am I going to do with all of these P133s?
