[12:36 AM EDT - It's all NTP.]

I've finally installed NTP on my system so hopefully my clock will stop getting ahead of me. We'll have to see if this works..

[10:45 AM EDT - Oh yeah..]

Perhaps by setting a flag to restict modifying, my computer's time wouldn't be updated. *smacks head* We'll see if this makes things better. I came across a list of Public NTP Time Servers.

[11:03 AM EDT - The Demon's Head.]

Hey, I forgot about this completely, but after reading through "Batman: Son of the Demon" again (not that great a story - "Batman: Year One" is much more enjoyable) I was reminded of Raishe Al-Ghoul.

Raishe Al-Ghoul was learning Arabic in high school, so it would have made sense that he'd mention Ra's Al Ghul. It wouldn't take long for those around him to butcher it to become Raishe Al-Ghoul. Since I didn't know the story behind it, and I didn't know Arabic, I just wrote what was written. Maybe I should look into it further..

[2:56 PM EDT - The time is now.]

Well, I've manually resynched my server's clock. It was off by 1400 seconds. That's over twenty-three minutes! Hopefully NTP will keep my clock in check because I'd hate to write more entries too far into the future.

[8:39 PM EDT - More EDO.]

Hey, I got my hands on some RAM. A few chips of EDO, and some SDRAM. I guess I'll have to see if I can upgrade BEGghILOS2 huh? Unfortunately, none of the other motherboards use EDO so I'll have to take the server down to test the memory sticks..

[11:08 PM EDT - Upgrade complete!]

Well, with a little skill and a little luck, I've got my new system up and running. I replaced the motherboard, CPU, and added some extra memory, and everything seems to be running.

We'll find out how stable things are over the course of the week. But until then, I've upgraded the motherboard chipset to a 430VX, the CPU to a P200-MMX, and added 16MB SDRAM.

I ended up replacing the fan/heatsink as well. I got a new one but didn't have any way of attaching it to the CPU, so I tried using the old one (which used clips) after blowing off all the dust. After I had plugged it in, I noticed that the fan was barely moving. Even nudging it a bit didn't help, and I could definitely hear something straining from the power supply. I figured that a new fan was in order. (After hearing weirDo's story of how his fan blew up his computer - but that's for another day.)

So, things seem to be running fine right now. I'm going to do some speed tests. I still have to attach the heat sink, check out the 430TX motherboard I forgot to bring home, and look at those CD-ROMs. I guess there's always tomorrow..

[11:30 PM EDT - ..and off it goes.]

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention this. I was driving DC back home and explaining why I was trying to drive so carefully because of the loose muffler, when I suddenly heard the engine noise go from a high pitched rumble to a low pitched growl. Crap, I knew what that meant. As I slowed down, I could hear the muffler scratching along the road. Fortunately, the strap that was keeping it up also kept it from falling off the car.

Unfortunately, this time the muffler came off at one of the straight joints which are normally tight. When I tried pushing it back in, it promptly fell out again. That didn't leave me much choice but to take the muffler and throw it into the trunk.

So, I guess I'll have it looked at tomorrow. I guess I won't be in work on time..

In other news, badminton was okay despite my tardiness (due to aforementioned events).

[11:33 PM EDT - Fat EDO.]

Oh yeah, I never actually got to use those EDO chips. The sticks had an extra ten pins on them and I couldn't figure out where the heck they went! I tried slotting them into the SDRAM slots, but they didn't fit in there. I guess I'll have to give them back. I can't use them. (At least the SDRAM came in handy.)
