[5:04 PM EDT - Moving pulleys.]

Well goshdarnit! I forgot to mention yesterday that the kid I was tutoring got his pully thing to work (by adding a cart on the weight to reduce friction). The other students all used moving pulleys. That was what I was thinking of! I forgot about moving pulleys, although I don't remember learning it in high school or university. I find that oddly disturbing actually. Pulleys are really interesting objects, and is one of the simple machines (like the lever or inclined plane).

Maybe I should read up on mechanical advantage from pulleys. I don't think any of my textbooks have any useful information on them.

[5:33 PM EDT - Vernier calipers.]

Hey, those Vernier calipers my dad gave me years ago finally came in handy. (After I found them that is.) The pipe I need to replace is 1 7/8" in diameter. I'll need a flex pipe around that size. The end is bolted on, so I'll need to find some sort of clamp for that. The other end I can attach with a U-clamp.

Hmm, now all I need to do is find out the terminology for that type of connection..

[8:53 PM EDT - Thunderstorm.]

Where the the sun go? Holy crap, it clouded over pretty quickly. I never got to fix the muffler. I still don't even have the parts. Argh! I'm not good at this mechanical stuff it seems. Ooh, that's bright. I should finish this lest the power goes out.

[9:13 PM EDT - Chocolate brownie mousse lasagna.]

I tried out some of that chocolate brownie mousse I picked up yesterday and it wasn't too bad. I decided to look at the packaging before I threw it out and noticed one passage that read:

"Do not store product in the refrigerator for more than five days."

Uhh.. when I bought it, it was already sitting in the store's fridge (not the freezer - I think it's supposed to be frozen) and was on one of those day old sales.. *counts on fingers*

Well, I guess I should try to finish it tomorrow I guess. Brownie anyone?

Oh, I spent part of this afternoon making lasagna using SS's recipe. Actually, I don't know his recipe. I just used the same ingredients that he did. More or less. I didn't get enough cheese, so I had to drive back to the store to get some and I used a bit too much sauce. The meat paste was much more runny than I wanted it to be. This resulted in a very mushy lasagna and the only thing that's keeping it together is the container. It tastes pretty good though. *picks up spoon*

[10:41 PM EDT - Storm's past.]

Well, the storm seems to have passed without any power failures. That's good. I finally finished that first filled book, and now I've got two full books to go through. If only I had written legibly it would've been much faster. Then again, people would've been able to read what I wrote and it wouldn't really be private huh? (Heck, private even from myself ten years later.)

it's kind of funny though. You can see how my caligraphy slowly deteriorates over time.
