[12:04 PM EDT - An hour-and-a-half.]

Oi. My shoulders hurt. I'm also a little tired. Let me explain.

Since the muffler fell off, I needed to bring it in to get it fixed. The muffler was attached with a number of joints. Previously, the muffler would detatch near the pipe, where it is connected at an angle. It's easy enough to slip back in since the connection area is long. So I can actually ride around with it attached by friction only for a little while. This time, it detached at the muffler joint, which isn't supposed to come off. It won't stay on if I try to put it in so.. off to get it fixed it guess!

Anyway, I dropped off the car at the mechanic's and walked to work. I had thought of taking the bus, but I didn't think bus service would be that great at this time of the day, and I didn't think it was THAT far to work.

So.. *cue wandering music* I started walking to work with my gear in tow. I went down some new road, some new bridges, and some new sidewalk. I remember biking through this area many years ago when it was still two lanes, undeveloped, and virtually empty. How times have changed. I should've brought a camera so I could've chronicled that journey.

On second though, maybe not.

[4:51 PM EDT - A muffler that.. muffles.]

I had forgotten to tell the mechanic that I had the muffler in the trunk. So when he quoted the price, I found it a little high. Of course, when I went to pick it up, I noticed that there was a new muffler (and pipe) underneath. Man is it ever quiet! No more hearing my improper shifting! Yeah!

We'll see how long this lasts before the next thing breaks.

[10:35 PM EDT - Quad damage.]

I couldn't get the last TX board to work, so I decided to put the remaining SDRAM into Yavin. I noted that it read 32MB on the stick although it only registered as 8MB on the VX motherboard. Thinking nothing of it, I popped the memory in and booted the machine. When I checked the total RAM, I saw 224MB. Waitaminute.. 128 plus 64 plus 8 is not 224. That means..

<- lightbulb turns on.

No way! It really is a 32MB memory stick. Then does mean that the 16MB stick in BEGghILOS2 is really 64MB? I turned off BEGghILOS2 and replaced the memory. Sure enough, Yavin registered the stick as 64MB of PC100 SDRAM. Son of a..

So, since I took the memory out of the server, I decided to steal a couple of the 4MB SIMMs from my test rig and popped it in. It's not 50MB, but 40MB should be okay. Besides, I would've been wasting 48MB of SDRAM goodness! I'm going to put the 128MB PC133 into Theophany. That should make very little difference, but it's the computer I look work on the most.

Now to change the light connections to point the right way..
