[10:24 AM EDT - The price of iron.]

There are two things to mention before I forget (again). I forgot to mention yesterday that before I even consider going ahead with orthodontic work, I need to go through some sort of preliminary analysis and a talk to see what my options are. It would take some time, and the cost is 265 dollars. Argh! If that's the cost of the preliminary work, I'd hate to see what the actual stuff would put me back..

Secondly, this is an "X2" spoiler. The thing that irked me at the beginning of the movie was the fact that the security guard had too much iron in his blood. It's a cool way to get Magneto out of his cell, but people suffering from Hemochromatosis are known to set off metal detectors. Now one can argue that the amount of iron in his blood was high enough for Magneto to detect, and too low for a metal detector to detect, but if the facility was as high tech as it was supposed to look, wouldn't they have had more senstive equipment seeing as they had a very powerful mutant on their hands? *shrugs*

[10:50 PM EDT - Shopping around.]

Well, I went price shopping today for a new pair of glasses. Laz drove me around and made all the style comments (much better than I could especially when I'm blind). We went by a number of stores, although two were closed and one was part of an optomotrist's clinic. The prices for the frames were fairly consistent. From two hundred to two fifty for the titanium frames with magnetic clip-ons (which is what I want to get). The lenses on the other hand vary a bit more. I was quoted five hundred dollars(!) at one of the places for the high end lenses (which in conjunction with their half price lens offer put them in about the same range as everyone else). I might check out Lenscrafters again. The first place was rather low on the frame stock. I think I'll go shopping again on Thursday.

Afterward, we went to a Canadian Tire to find a snap ring for my window regulator handle. Apparently they don't have any, and the only place where I could find one was at the dealership. Great. I guess I'll be looking for one at the scrapyard. I guess the "universal" ones I got won't work. *fumes* Yet another lesson learned..

I saw on TV an ad for Midas for a free lube and filter for any purchase and installation of a new brake pad. *thinks* Well, considering that I'm not planning to keep this car for more than a year, I don't know if I really should bother with the new brakes. Mind you, I would like to get the handbrake fixed. *rubs chin*

Apparently CJF has a new kitten! She sent me (and probably a hundred other people) some pictures of the black furball.

[11:58 PM EDT - Three diamonds.]

I was just looking up info on the Mitsubishi Lancer ES that they've got in Canada.

Hmm, I'm throwing up some info on the Corolla GT-S. Here, here, and here. These guys sure like their cars, but sure as heck don't know how to write web pages. The last one's pretty useful though.
