[1:45 PM EDT - Okay..]

Just as soon as the site went up, Jules' site has gone down. What the hey?

At least it's a nice day outside. I guess I should go out and enjoy it huh?

[Monday, May 19, 2003: Maintenance and animation.]

I got up this morning (late) so I didn't go downtown to play ultimate. Instead, I headed off to Werdna's place to fix my muffler. I wanted to find a way to make sure that the muffler would stay attached, since my initial (feeble) attempts indicated that I wouldn't be able to unscrew the nuts on the U-clamp.

Well, to make a long story (which lasted three hours) short, after removing the clamp and realizing that the difference in pipe sizes was too large, we put in some padding (first some copper strips, then aluminum foil) and reattached the front of the muffler. The back was reattached to the rubber thing, but we had to move it back a little (initially we had a strange double rubber contraption, then a rubber and chain link, then a different rubber - it was quite a crazy setup). I was also able to attach the window regulator handle with a makeshift snap ring I made with some handy galvanized steel wire. Hopefully it'll stay in place otherwise it'll be some time before I can wrestle in another wire.

I noticed a lot of black cats around Werdna's house, and was surprised to see a kitten sitting in his backyard. They don't actually own any cats, but a whole family of strays had made their home in their backyard, under some planks of wood. The kitten was so cute! It also looked a little clumsy when walking around. The other cats (I saw three) were sitting around minding their own business when Werdna picked up the kitten to pet it. Soon after he put the furball down, one of the adult cats (he said they were all females - the males never stuck around) picked up the kitten by the scruff of the neck and dragged it under the planks.

We then were able to contact Laz and we headed up to his place. On the way, some car pulled up next to us and the driver shouted out:

"Your muffler's a little loose."

I told him that I already knew that, thanks. Well, it seems like it was a little worse than before because nobody stopped to tell me about my muffler before..

So we got to Laz's place and Werdna and I decided to change the contraption in the back (it was using the one rubber and chain link but it was too low) to remove the link and raise the muffler. But since the pipes were hot, we decided to throw the disc around with Laz and Tenshi (and break a couple of nails) for a while before making our changes (which seemed to work out).

Afterward, we had dinner at Laz's place and watched some Animatrix (finally got to see all of them) and some anime. Namely Macross Zero and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Macross Zero was excellant. I can't wait to see what the rest of the OVA will be like. Ghost in the Shell was okay, but I only saw one episode.
