[1:05 AM EST - You've got to be kidding me.]

I came across an interesting article when sifting through the ShackNews links (I'll post them later) about finding people on the web. There's a website (alltheweb) that is apparently good for finding people with uncommon names. I found DH's name pop up on a TUC tournament that I had thought of playing at! Man, I haven't seen DH in years! Oh well, I guess more people play ultimate than I thought.. (There's LY, Squishy, DeeL, etc.)

[1:23 AM EST - Names from the past.]

Hmm, I'm just going to keep some of this information handy for myself. Madelaine's here, there's BL, and too bad there are too many common names out there.

[10:49 AM EST - Rescheduled.]

Hmm, my tutoring session has been bumped later a couple of hours. That should be okay I guess. But it'll be dark by the time I get to see the car..

[Sunday, March 16, 2003: Gas is your friend.]

So.. I updated my version of Neverwinter Nights and started out that module they included with this update. It's pretty good so far, although some of the scenes in the game were really pushing my card to the max. There were a lot of still frames in some of the panning sequences and even just moving around at full view felt sluggish. I still refuse to upgrade since I really don't NEED to yet..

I went out to get my skates sharpened before I went to do some tutoring. It was such a warm day today, it's too bad I didn't spend more time outside.

After tutoring, I went to HW's place to check out the car. I got there just in time to go for a spin in it (he was making some repairs) and so we got in and.. the car didn't start. Oops. We weren't able to jump start it either, so CAA was called in and we went inside and talked about how being frugal is a good attribute.

Anyway, after an hour, the guys arrived and we got the car started and running. After going around the block, he let me try driving the car and gave me tips on driving stick. First, this car was different than girl's Echo. You need to apply gas before releasing the clutch. The engine doesn't have enough power by itself to move the car without giving it some gas. Thus, gas is your friend. It's better to give more gas and have a jerky shift rather than stall the engine.

I also learned that you didn't have to move the shifter horizontally when changing gears upwards. The gearbox would automatically go to the next gear just by pushing forward or back. Handy to know, considering that I threw it from second to fifth once.

Finally, I found out that driving around the neighborhood and hitting all the stop signs is a great way to learn how to get into first gear. I think I need a lot more practice, but this is a good start.

Oh yeah, after going around the block a couple of times, the car started making a strange whirring sound, which eventually became a sharp metallic scraping sound. When we stopped the car, we found out that the muffler had fallen off. (Better than the tires falling off, apparently the bolts were loose.)

Anyhoo, it was a good experience. I'll have to get out again next week.

After that, I went to play hockey. The new skates felt very akward the first time I got onto the ice. I guess my old skates were flatter in the back because I kept falling on my back everytime I tried to move. Going backwards was hard, and even moving forwards was difficult. I slowly adjusted myself to lean a bit forward when moving now, so by the time the game was half over, I was skating at a respectable skill level. Mind you, the skates were in the car all day and the heat molding was rock solid. My feet were so sore after the game.. *rubs feet*

Played better today though. It's nice to be able to power turn. I gotta work on my stickwork though.
