[12:02 AM EST - OJ, alcohol, and Pi.]

There was a short discussion between the hockey guys about Pi. OC brought up a point that his favorite drink is orange juice, and came up with this statement:

"Can I have a large container of orange juice?"

He mentioned that the number of letters corresponded to the digits in Pi: 3.14159265. (Which is his jersey number.)

To which KS replied:

"How I want a drink, alcoholic of course, after the heavy lectures involving quantum mechanics. All of thy geometry..."

3.141592653589793238..

I wanted to top it off with my own whatever this is called, but I was at work, and I didn't have time to think one up. *shakes fist* Next time!

[1:00 AM EST - Time for some news.]

Catching up on the news front. From the ShackNews, there's word that you can find your own pair of Nike shoes floating to a beach near you. Valedictorian might be banned in some US school because it's unhealthy? I wouldn't mind having one of these steam engines. Speaking of engines, I thought I saw another list of high-efficiency cars somewhere else. (The lists were the same, nearly.) Oh well.

Ooh, look! Hominivorax! Yum! I mean run!

At ArsTechnica, I found out that Pioneer 10 has finally gone silent after thirty years, and some college students have sold their computers to the devil. I mean spammers.

Great, another Shockwave thing I can't see. I got this one from girl.

[1:53 PM EST - Trying Freelance(r).]

I downloaded Freelancer last night. I heard about the game years ago when the idea of an open space trading game was being thrown around (like Privateer with unlimited expansion possibilities). The graphics are okay, although the demo version is giving me a LOT of artifacts: triangles that don't meet, shafts of colour that extend across the screen, etc. It's distracting, and hopefully only on the demo.

I did try it out for a few minutes before I could pry myself away from my computer. It looks promising, although the "acting" didn't seem quite fluid enough. In fact, I think it might be a little annoying in the long run when interacting with subcharacters. Ah well, we'll see how it goes.
