[11:27 PM EST - Hypothesis and conclusion.]

I've been doing a little study over the past couple of weeks. I wasn't sure if I was lactose intolerant or not, but I usually don't pay attention to what I eat or what I do to notice. Last week, I went on a milk fast and didn't drink any for a few days. Afterward, I went back to drinking a litre a day. Conclusion? Yup, there's a difference. I'd call it a mild intolerance but it's there. It's quite annoying actually. I like drinking milk. Oh well, I guess it's soy from now on!

well, it runs in the family (forgive the pun) :) Dad's lactose intolerant. I haven't had milk in years, but I always feel a little uncomfortable if I eat cheese. The exception was italy, where I chowed on pizza and risotto with no effect really. Maybe quality makes a difference too?

I have no problems with cheese. It's only milk that I have issues with. Then again, I drank so much milk that it might've masked any symptoms. Time for another study!

Actually, quality does matter - higher fat milk products don't give lactose intolerant people as much trouble. Finally, a medical reason for Haagen Dazs. ;-)
