[Tuesday, February 26, 2002: On time, late, late!]

The schedule for today was packed. The plan was to patrol in the morning, rush to Shoeless Joe's to watch the game, and then tutoring. At least that was the plan.

I actually got up early to go and patrol. I had never opened before but there wasn't anything too special about it. The snow was good, for about an hour before it started to melt and turn to slush. It was such a warm day. (A warm and sunny day I must add.) It actually became somewhat dangerous because there were some real slow slushy spots that would throw you off balance. Anyway, I did some more jumps and tried out the half-pipe. Once I get comfortable with making my turns in the pipe, I'll see if I can actually get some air..

I rushed back to town and made it to Shoeless Joe's around ten minutes into the game. The place wasn't as packed as I thought it was going to be. They were turning people away if there weren't any seats reserved for them. Fortunately for me, the group I was going with had one more space for me!

The game was good, the excitement was contagious and the tension was thick. The cheers were deafening whenever Canada scored, and silence followed any of the USA goals. Towards the end, we knew that it was all over and people started singing "Kiss Him Goodbye". In the dying minute, a group next to us started chanting "Go Leafs! Go!" and we all started counting down the time. Man, fifty years in the making. Anything I write just doesn't do enough justice to the euphoria everyone experienced after the game.

Speaking of which, I was late for my tutoring session. The game ended earlier than I had expected it to, which is why I stayed until the end. But this meant that I was about half-an-hour late and ended up tutoring to a much later time than I had expected. Ah well, it was still a good day.
