[Sunday, January 27, 2002: Somewhere out there. ]

The day started off.. not so good. When we got to the site, we were told that one of the machines that we installed the software on (the Win95 one) was GPFing. When I checked it out, I found out that it was dying right after windows had finished loading the desktop. This was not good as I needed to get the data off it via the network. It took me three hours to figure out that part of the RAM was corrupted, and get it running long enough to get the information off the computer. Whew! *wipes brow*

We had lunch at a little restaurant near one of the remote sites. What surprised me were the soup selections that we had there: Cheeseburger, Meatball, and Chili. Well, apparently, cheeseburger is a creamy cheese broth with ground beef, while Meatball (which I had) was more like Italian wedding soup. Strange names for normal soups.

I mentioned the lunch soups because when we had dinner near one of the other remote sites, the soups that were available were: Meatloaf, Pot Roast, and Baked Potato. I had the Pot Roast (which was basically beef stew).

Oh, when filling up with gas, one of the pumps was specially designed to spit out 110 Octate gas - at $3 a gallon. Ouch, too rich for my blood. *pumps regular unleaded into catheder*

The hotel that we were staying that night at had beds that were bigger than twins but much smaller than queens. It's strange that I don't usually notice these things when I go out on trips, but the difference in size sort of screamed at me this time (despite having my own room - thank you for business expenses). I think I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm rooming with three other guys.
