[Sunday, January 27, 2002: In need of toiletries.]

Argh! Where's my toothbrush?!?

Grr.. I guess I forgot to bring my deodourant as well, but it isn't that critical. A quick trip to the local pharmacy and I should be able to fix my toiletry problems. It's still quite annoying, especially when it's your first day at a client site. You don't want to smell bad or anything.

The noise last night was a little on the high side. Those snowmobiles are LOUD! There was a group of them sitting next to my window last night and they kept going, and going until much later in the night than I would've liked. Mind you, I actually wanted to sleep in early (around nine) this week because I've got to get up around six each day.

For a little while there, I had thought that we had forgotten some software. *gasps in horror* Seeing as how we were internet challanged here, acquiring a copy of the software would mean that we might need it couriered over..

Fortunately, I called in to the office and was relieved to hear that the piece of software that we were missing was actually part of the Windows 98 operating system. *wipes brow*

[Sunday, January 27, 2002: So this is business.]

So I spent the day installing software and addressing some bugs with the system. I got stuck on one computer that didn't seem to work half of the time. I guess I should've left it for later but it really bothered me. Of course, it had to be a Win95 machine while all of the others are Win98 and that probably explains why. (The cause is still unknown, but I'm not going to bother with it anymore.) Actually, it's interesting. When I'm at the office, I concentrate more on getting something to work perfectly rather than getting out speedily, but when you're out at a site, you want to get things up and running ASAP. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it doesn't matter as long as it works. It's kind of tough to take when you're a perfectionist..

I noticed some huge icicles at the site right outside the window. I haven't seen icicles that large (they go all the way to the ground) in a long time. They're also getting more snow than we do in TO, but their latitude is more on par with Barrie so that should be expected. I'm heading out to one of the remote sites tomorrow. Let's hope things go well huh?

On our return to the hotel, we parked in the back and tried our keys in the lock. It didn't work. Then we tried it on another door. Nope. Another one. No dice. Crap! We headed back to the front to inform the.. uh.. doorlady(?) of our little plight before heading back to our rooms. Funny enough, our keys didn't work on our room doors as well! (Which would explain why they didn't work on the outside doors.) Very annoying..

I had the TV on while I was working on some of the code that night, and came across the two new game shows I read about a little while ago: The Chamber and The Chair. The Chamber is definitely nuts: "Let's tourture these people and throw in some trivia to make it seem more legitmate". Of course, the Japaneese have probably done this sort of stuff already..
