[11:07 AM EST - This is starting to hurt.]

I went to my orthodontic appointment this morning and now my teeth are starting to hurt. We are getting pretty close with the arrangement of the teeth and there is some tweaking being done to the alignment and individual tooth positions.

But lunch may be a bit of a chore today.

[Thursday, December 20, 2007: Unexpected dinner.]

I had planned to go by my parent's place after badminton since my mom is back in town, but I completely forgot about it when EL asked me if I was interested in going out to dinner with some people from badminton. My stomach was growling by the end of the (left handed) session, so I drove JST to the restaurant. But it was tough looking for parking, and the spot I found was kind of cramped. By the time we had parked and walked into the restaurant, I got a call on my cell from MJ telling me that they were not able to find parking and the venue had changed. Luckily, we had not asked for a table yet, so we drove down to the other restaurant. As I walked into the restaurant, I saw a familiar face! It was WC who immediately recognized me (after I was staring at her for a couple of minutes). She asked how girl was doing, so I should tell her about this encounter.

There was also another badminton guy at the restaurant too, who came with his daughter, who had grown up quite a bit since the last time I saw her (a few years ago). Dang these kids grow like weeds! Of course, she did not recognize any of us since she was too little at that time.

[Thursday, December 20, 2007: Driving Conditions: Running a red.]

I forgot to mention one more thing about my drive home. I was sitting at the Woodbine and Highway 7 intersection (on Highway 7 going west). Normally, when the lights change, there is a left turn light that activates before the general green light is given, depending on whether there are cars waiting to turn left. Well, I was in the middle lane and there was a minivan to the right of me. When the lights switched, the left turn lane did indeed come on, but the main light stayed red, indicating that only the cars turning left had the right of way.

The van to my right surged forward.

Actually, it started moving before the light changed. This happens a lot. People tend to anticipate the changing of the light and try to get through the intersection as soon as possible. I do this quite a bit, as do a lot of other drivers. However, if the light is still red I tend to stop, as do most other drivers. This driver kept going; right into the path of the SUV that was turning left from the other direction.

Fortunately the car turning left stopped, after giving the van a very loud honk. But then again, it was hard to tell whether it was the SUV that was honking or the van. In any case, nobody got hurt. (But I did notice that the driver in the car to my left was as surprised as I was.)

[Tuesday, January 8, 2008: Still there.]

That large pile of snow was still standing so I decided to take a picture of it with cars around it to give a better sense as to the size of the mound.

I was still tempted to slide down this mini-hill, but cooler heads prevailed..
