[Tuesday, April 24, 2007: First comes the bike.]

Since the consultation was canceled today, I had time to ride and work on the bike. SS was planning on washing his bike at his condo, so I decided to hook up with him since I did not have any washing facilities at my condominium.

So I headed out to his place and I got to work at cleaning the chain, washing the bike, oiling the cables, and greasing the chain.

Before I washed my bike though, I happened to be looking down at my front forks and noticed that the radiator was only attached to the frame on one side by a nut. The other side was not connected to hook. That is when I recalled my bent frame slider.

I noticed that my frame slider was bent soon after I started riding my bike again about a month ago. But I did not see any other obvious damage, so I ignored it.

Anyway, I decided to take a closer look at my bike. I noticed that in addition to the bent slider, the fairing itself looked a little warped. There was a crack at the bottom where the fairing screwed into the frame. I started unscrewing the fairing and everything started popping out of place. Once I had the fairing off, I saw that the slider bar was bent, the right side mirror had a small scratch, and even the handlebar had a small scratch.

I was really annoyed because I did not notice the damage originally. However, I do remember that the right side mirror was extremely loose one day. (Probably right after the drop.)

Ah well, what is done is done. I did end up cleaning up the bike, and we were able to head out for a ride. The plan was to go and check out that tire sale that Windelynn mentioned to me before (and SS brought up) since I really needed new tires (and an oil filter).

We got out onto the highway and the road was packed. My tank was less than a quarter full before I left for SS's place (less than fifty kilometers) but I had forgotten to fill up on gas before we left, so I got off on an exit to find a gas station. I was looking for an Esso in particular but as we continued to ride, we went through a fairly ghetto commercial area and came across one no name gas station. We did not stop. I made a turn hoping that the bigger street would have more stations lining it. Unfortunately, we ended up driving through mostly residential and park zones and there was nary a gas station to be found! By the time we got to the highway, we counted two (no name) gas stations in about ten kilometers.

That is pretty bad. We did not come across a brand name gas station until after the highway. By then I had to find an Esso on principle. Gas station number six was an Esso (after another five kilometers). I am really glad my fuel light was not at the emergency level.

Ironically enough, we found two other Essos and six other gas stations over the next few kilometers of road! *shakes fist*

We stopped off at the bike shop and I picked up my oil filter (with free crushable washer) and signed up for the tires.

We stopped off for some food before heading back home.

[Tuesday, April 24, 2007: Then comes the concert.]

I had agreed to go to a choral concert today. Partially because I wanted to find out what it was like, and partially because it was relatively cheap.

Unfortunately, I was unsure if I would recognize many people there. It did not help the fact that I did not check the map before I left.

Fortunately, I did look at the map some time ago and had an idea where the place was. Unfortunately, when I got to the neighborhood, I was looking at the wrong side of the street and passed by the church thrice before I realized where it was.

I was late, but the show had not started yet. My timing was pretty good though. As soon as we sat down, the introductions were being made and the show commenced.

The show itself was entertaining. They tried to pull the audience in to the whole event by explaining what each of the pieces were about as well as giving a little talk about the composer. At the end, they got the crowd singing "Study War No More", which was way before the time of my companions, but I did recognize the song.

Oh, I did recognize a number of people. There was a coworker there, as well as a few people from girl's old workplace. One surprise was seeing someone who looked just like KarmicMayan. I filed that observation away until minutes later when I realized that I actually knew that girl! That was really weird.

I ended up going out for food with the choir, but all of the other people I knew left so I was all alone with all of these musical types. It was alright though. They were a friendly bunch.

The ride home was pretty cold though. I was shivering by the time I got home.
