[Sunday, January 23, 2005: Lunch first.]

I was woken up by a phone call early in the morning. I had planned on sleeping in to catch up on the sleep I haven't been getting during the week, but it was not meant to be.

The plan for lunch was to take my grandma out for dim sum. I wasn't going to be available tonight due to CAHL stuff, so I wanted to get things done and over with before I left.

Well, other people were supposed to be in town as well to partake in dim sum, but at around eleven, the world went white. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked outside and saw snow everywhere. It was because of the snow that the turnout for lunch was smaller than expected, and I couldn't really travel much because of it either.

I ended up playing MJ with her, and my aunt and uncle to pass the time (I only lost $2.30) before I had to go and get ready for hockey.

[Sunday, January 23, 2005: CAHL (first annual) skills competition.]

I'm not sure who came up with this idea, but someone wanted to put together some sort of skills competition since we figured that people wouldn't come out near Christmas. This eventually evolved into a dinner and skills competition thing, and then into a banquet and skills competition! I personally thought that they might be going a little overboard with this whole skills competition thing, but hey, it sounded cool, and we were a "league" so why not?

We ended up having dinner near the arena. The food was pretty good, and the cost was manageable. I probably should have invited people out. There was a lot of food, and since I stuffed myself at dim sum, I couldn't really take full advantage of all of the food that was offered at the banquet.

The skills competition itself was fun as well. We had extra ice time, and we needed it. I ended up participating in the puck control, fastest skater, and breakaway events. I screwed up on the breakaway (lost control of the puck) but won the other two events against my opponent. Our team eventually went on to win the match, but it was close!

We'll definitely have to do this again next year!
