[Monday, January 17, 2005: Skiing around.]

Today was the annual ski around. Basically the executive, patrol leaders, and APLs get go travel to each hill and ski around at each resort. As the resorts are far enough apart to make this a little do difficult to do in a single day, we were limited to just three hills on this particular ski around.

I was a little worried about getting things set up on our end as we had to supply lunch, but I have great support from KM who was able to get more than enough food for the hungry skiers. It was pretty good actually. I got to ski around with a bunch of people I don't usually see (except in meetings), and got some stuff worked out. Everything went fairly smoothly. Much more smoothly than I had expected. Everyone was friendly and courteous and there was a large turnout (although not from my hill). It's really too bad we didn't have more people represented from my hill, but the next time we have a ski around, I'll make sure that the APLs are invited to come.

Afterward, I ended up going home to eat dinner and then rush out to play hockey. I played amazingly well today. I have no idea what happened. Maybe I play better when not stressed?

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the game, I ended up falling on my knee. I hit my knee against something hard with the unpadded part of the shin guard, so now I've got this contusion which makes it a little difficult to bend the knee. It was better the next day though.

[Tuesday, January 18, 2005: Oh, and the party.]

I decided to skip out on going to the birthday party today. By the time I was driving home from the hill, it was dark, and I was falling asleep at the wheel. I realized that driving all the way out to Kitchener would be a bad thing (TM) in my condition and staying close to home was probably safer for me (and the rest of the people on the highway).
