[Wednesday, April 9, 2003: An hour lost, a memory gained.]

Due to Daylight Saving Time, we ended up getting up later than the day before. As usual, SS got up first. How the boy does it I don't know. I took a long time to roll myself out of bed.

The weather was much better today. It was partially cloudy, not as windy, and just as cold. The snow was pretty good as well. We piled into SS's truck and drove down to the hill this time because the main hill (Madonna) was closed. (We didn't want to wait for the village shuttle and couldn't be bothered to ski across.) We did a number of runs, and I continued to work on my technique.

[The Vermont Crew.]

On our final day at the resort, we took a picture at the top of the hill next to one of the trail maps. The weather that day was amazing, and the conditions were excellent, especially considering how late into the season we were. It also helped a lot that there was nobody at the resort, so we had the mountain basically all to ourselves.. (relatively speaking.)

Back row: KB, CM, me, and SS.
Front row: TB, LS, and JM.

We had a quick break for food before hiting the slopes again. I finally got a good jump off, and stayed until the very end with CM and JM. Our last run went down to the parking lot, but as I was slowing down (on the steep black diamond) the pitch changed suddenly and I found myself leaving the ground and sliding down the hill. I finally came to a stop halfway down sans one ski. So we ended up going through a roundabout way to the lot while JM climbed up to take the actually trail down to the hill. CM and I had to pass through the T-bar dropoff area and I nearly got clotheslined by one of the bars. (I ducked just in time.) Whew! *wipes brow*

We headed back to the condo and got washed and packed. I went in TB's car with LS and as we were heading out, KB's truck got stuck in the ice. We were lucky that TB had brought along a bag of salt to help us out of that rut. (We used a lot of salt.)

The trip back was fairly eventful. Each car had a radio and every now and then SS would broadcast a question to the rest of the cars for us to contemplate. I won't go into the specifics here, but most had to do with sex. It was all very entertaining though. The border crossing was pretty lax, and we stopped off for dinner at Harvey's before heading off to SS's place where we did a prisoner swap (I went into CM and JM's van) and headed home.
