[Wednesday, April 9, 2003: Sleet and hail riding.]

We got up moderately early. SS was the early riser, but then again, he did set the alarm clock. The weather was not as good today. It was sleeting, and very windy. I decided to go snowboarding so I rented some boots and a board and went riding with TB and LS (both of whom own boards). We stayed on the bunny hill.. er.. mountain. It was really good, I should practice more. The runs were powdery and the trees blocked the wind. Since we didn't go all the way up the mountain, we were sheltered from the brunt of the storm.

[LS and I walking back to the chalet.]

In April, I took a day off work so that I could go skiing with a several patrollers out in Vermont. Since I have not skied on anything bigger than Blue Mountain, I was eagerly anticipating better pitch, longer runs, powder, and good skiing in general. I was not disappointed.

On the second day that we were there, TB, LS, and I went snowboarding on the beginner "hill" while everyone else went skiing. I had a good time despite the poor weather that day. It took us forever to make it across the pass to meet up with the rest of the group for lunch, but it was definitely a memorable trek.

That's me and LS walking (with our boards) to the chalet with the storm raging around us. Boy we look happy to be alive.

We had made plans to go out to lunch with the rest of the group on the main part of the resort, so we had to ride across to the other runs. Unfortunately, the run was on the other side of the mountain, which was the windward face. The wind was so bad on that run that it blew us up the mountain (the wrong way). The run was wind blown and icy. It didn't help that we were on boards and couldn't power our way down the hill. Eventually, TB went into the bush and grabbed a few sticks so that we could at least push ourselves over some of the flatter parts of the run (of which there seemed to be a lot). It took us so long to make it to the Chalet but we made it in one piece.

[KB and I enjoying our time inside.]

Since the weather while we were there was generally okay, and the snow conditions were actually quite good, we didn't actually spend a lot of time in the chalet or our rooms during the day. It was only today where we decided to call it a day after a long, cold, and icy (it was sleeting) morning.

That's me and KB happy and warm in the chalet.

We ate lunch on that side and decided to take shuttle bus (car) back to this side (since we weren't going to be walking across the trail back to the bunny hill). We snowboaded for an hour or so until it started to rain heavy sleet/hail. At that point we decided to call it a day and headed back to the condo where we chilled for a bit.

Anytime there was talk of JM, CM would plug his ears and start singing "Little Brown Jug". Both CM and SS had found these huge moonshine jugs at the liquor store and brought them back to the condo. I can't believe they drank the whole thing (one each day and one to bring back home)!

Nearly everybody wanted to head out to the sports shop to do some shopping (I had already checked it out before and didn't find anything useful). I stayed in the room with SS and watched the last bit of 'Heat'. Strange movie that was. (Had a lot of big name actors though.)

Afterward, we went out to dinner at some Mexican restaurant and after which we played cards (A$$hole) and drinking games until the wee hours in the morning. It was some sort of card related game where you pick up a card and can divy out that number of drinks to people. Pick a jack and you need to do a name game. Pick a queen and you do a thumb on table trick. Pick a king and.. ah yeah, the name of the game is called "Kings".
