[Sunday, February 3, 2008: The plan was to clean..]

MJNL had originally planned for us to clean my apartment today, but as always, things do not always go as planned. On Friday Windelynn invited me out to lunch for today and I was having a hankering for some dim sum.

So we went, and that was our first foray of the day into an extremely busy, extremely packed, and extremely frustrating parking lot overflowing with Chinese drivers. We eventually found a parking spot on the opposite end of the lot and made it to the restaurant soon after people started arriving. There were not too many of us, but we did end up ordering (and eating) a lot of food.

Afterward, I found out that Windelynn was going to visit AJ so I figured that it would also be a good time to introduce MJNL. However, we had other errands to run so we went to do that first. The first errand was to pick up some Jamaican Paddies from Allan's Bakery.

Unfortunately, they only take cash, and we had none on hand (since I had to pay back Windelynn). Doubly unfortunate was the fact that the closest bank was at Pacific Mall. Triply unfortunately, we decided to go in and get some money from said bank.

So we went, and that was our second foray of the day into an extremely busy, extremely packed, and extremely frustrating parking lot overflowing with Chinese drivers. We were on the verge of giving up when we found some guy pulling out of a spot which we pounced on. The walk was not too far, but way too much just to pick up some cash. The exit was a little less painful, but still..

We eventually made it to the bakery. Apparently this place had some of the best Jamaican Paddies around, but what surprised me the most was that it was being run by Chinese people! By the looks of all of the female employees, it seemed like a family run business too?

We continued on to my parent's place, where we dropped off some paddies, picked up some of those "little crescents", and sat for a bit, and then headed to AJ's place, where I was expecting to drop off more paddies and take off.

Well, I was wrong, again. AM was over along with NMY and KarmicMayan. Ironically enough, they were in the process of making more of those "little crescents"! The two of us got drafted to help out, along with Windelynn and B. In addition, most of the other people who showed up to lunch showed up at the house with more and more people being drafted to help out.

We finished in less than an hour, but hung around for a bit afterwards. We did not start heading home until around six, and along the way, I had this crazy notion of picking up food on the way home since we had to do it anyway (the original plan was to swing by after hockey). However, the main difference was that after hockey, there would be far less people shopping for food, but that did not occur to me at the time.

So we went, and that was our third foray of the day into an extremely busy, extremely packed, and extremely frustrating parking lot overflowing with Chinese drivers. I think we spent at least an hour if not more idling, or moving around slowly in a parking lot today. Again, we were about to give up when a spot opened up and we took it.

The shopping was a little hectic, but we managed to find a checkout lane with only one person in front.

We got home, had a quick meal, and went right back out to hockey. Since there was some skating time before the game today, MJNL tried on girl's old skates (which were VW's old skates) and went around the rink a number of times.

Uhh, the game did not go too well for us though, but there really is not much to talk about there.
