[11:50 PM EST - Pr0n Seminar and Drinks.]

One of our servers ran out of space again, so I had to do some quick searching to find something to remove so that the computer could function. I settled on our old shared files, which have been sitting on here for the past couple of years even though they had been copied to and superseded by the bigger server. While the machine was happily sending those files to oblivion, I continued to look for other files that I could remove from the system. The hard drive was only 9GB in size and space was at a premium. The shared file directory would clear up 2GB, but I wanted more of a buffer. I found a strangely labeled directory and noticed that there was a directory inside that was hidden. There were also a couple of movie files and an image that I opened up.

It was 'NSFW'. In fact, after skimming through the directory listing, I recognized enough names to realize that someone had stored these files here over five years ago and never removed them. I did not even know about their existence until now or I would have cleared up the space long ago! Another 500MB cleared up. I hope that will last.

We had a little seminar touting the new enhancements that were made for Visual Studio 2008. The talks were only a couple of hours long, but it did highlight a number of technologies that could potentially benefit us, if we could get around to converting our code base.

Afterward, I headed out to the bar to meet up with CJF and crew. I had expected at least a dozen people to show up but there were only four people there. Heck, I think every time I come out to one of these CJF gatherings, I am underwhelmed by the turnout.

Oh, I found out that GF worked at Microsoft, since they were telling me about her software allowance. The strange coincidence (apart from girl) was that she worked at the same building where I had that seminar at! That was really.. weird. Ah well, the important part was that now I have a second source for cheap Microsoft products! From what I am hearing, nobody else is taking advantage of these deals, so I might just make a little list..

In any case, the outing was fun. There were only five of us, but I am pretty sure there were only five minutes (out of two hours) where nobody was laughing. (Mostly at my expense though.) Good times.
