Since I was having trouble with the graphics for a couple of the new games, so I decided to put in the other video card that I was having problems with and installed new drivers.
Well, what do you know? After I installed the new drivers, the card was recognized immediately, and I tested the card on three different games without a hitch! Woot! I guess there was nothing wrong with the hardware after all.
(It just took a year for the software to catch up.)
In any case, the only complaint now is that the case sounds like it has some sort of turbine engine running inside. It is so loud!

Which graphics card is it? You can try out this utility:

If you have a supported card you can try underclocking the GPU when you don't require 3d acceleration and also slow the fan down. Alternatively, you can spend $30 to use an aftermarket GPU cooler.

Actually, I ended up using ATITool, which I somehow had a copy from a year ago (I downloaded the latest stable version though). Now my card is running as quiet as a sleeping baby..
When I am not playing 3D games that is.
