[10:45 AM EST - Two years now.]

Wow, I've been working here for two years now and the time just seems to fly by. I guess time passes more quickly when you're busy huh?

Anyway, I should be patrolling tonight. We're supposed to get a storm as well, although the worse part will miss us, so we should only get eight to twelve centimeters.

I should get back to work, people seem to be over any hangover they had in the past couple of days so things are going to get busy again..

[11:40 AM EST - Canceled entry.]

Argh! I quit the browser before entering my entry! Gah! *bangs fist on table*

That was annoying. *takes deep breath* Ah well, I'll have to do it again later.

[Friday, January 3, 2003: Snowy roads.]

Yuck! I don't know where Quaker gets their oats, but I'm definitely not finishing off that box of oatmeal. *tries to wash mouth* Ick. This is what happens when you don't do your own grocery shopping. *adds oatmeal to shopping list*

Anyhoo, tonight was very busy. I was scheduled to patrol and apparently a lot of rookies showed up for training. Too bad not too many trainers actually showed up. So we were in a bit of a quandary here. Fortunately, the hill was pretty much empty, so we were able to pull some people to help train and.. it was actually quite fun! (I'm am quite embarrassed to say.) Quite. It's strange how training people makes you feel so much better about yourself. "Wow, my skiing's not THAT bad after all!"

It's good review for me too since it's been a while since I've seen this sort of stuff (with the lack of snow and all) and every little reminder is helpful.

The drive back was crazy dangerous! We were forecasted to get hit by a large snowstorm and it started snowing around nine. By the time we left the hill, we already had a few centimeters on the ground and the snow was just blanketing the sky. I could barely see more than five feet ahead of me so driving slow was a must. The snow gradually cleared up as I continued driving and eventually I was zipping along as usual (well, not quite but close enough).

Just as I reentered the city, the car started swerving to the left so I counter-steered. Then it swerved more to the right and I countered. Then it swerved even more to the left and I countered again. I realized that I was entering some sort of resonant swerving motion because each swerve got more and more severe. What surprised me more was the fact that my foot was off the pedal and I had not lost any speed. Eventually, the car was sliding horizontally and that's when I applied the brakes. The car spun around (since I was counter-steering) and eventually the tires regained traction and I came to an abrupt halt. I'm so glad that there were no cars around. It might've gotten quite messy.

Well, I should get to sleep soon.
