[Sunday, September 22, 2002: Working Catan.]

I got up late this morning. After getting home who knows how late last night, I wasn't surprised to get up in the afternoon. I haven't done that in.. oh.. months. That's a scary thought. Anyway, I was a little worried about missing my tutorial session but was later assured that the time was at three, not two as I had thought. This gave me time to eat and get cleaned up before heading out to tutor. I ended up doing my banking and some grocery shopping afterward since I wanted to make my own dinner.

I was supposed to go to a client site that night to help with some upgrades and so I didn't have much time to cook when I got home. I had a little time, but most of that spare time was blown away playing Settlers of Catan (solo vs the computer).

In the end, I decided to have dinner with my parents (who were eating at our relatives) so I finished up at the house and wandered out to their place when I got the call. It was time for me to work. Doh! I stopped by to tell the folks that I had to go work and then grabbed some snacks before heading out.

The entire process went by pretty quickly, although two hours isn't really that short an amount of time for me since I had a hockey game at 10:30. It went pretty well though, without any hitches and I found out the cause to one of the problems they were having so I can go and fix it when I get back to work on Monday.

I got to the arena some time around eleven. I went in the main entrance and found out that the doors were locked! Argh! I was able to sneak in but the secondary doors were locked as well! Argh!! I was able to get HBK's attention and he waved me to go around to find another entrance. The next entrance I found was through a local restaurant and found out that those doors were locked (after hearing one of the cashiers shout after me "we're closed"). Whatever. I headed outside and proceeded to try out all of the entrances. Locked. Locked. Locked!!

I decided to give up and started banging on one of the doors on the back. It took three minutes or so before someone came by to let me in.

In hindsight, I probably should've packed my hockey gear into the car before I left to go to the client site, but I didn't think it would take that long. Actually, I should expected it to take longer than the time it did take since I really didn't think anything would go wrong. Had something come up, I might've been there all night..

The game went pretty well. We played for an hour-and-a-half which was good, although the rink is actually smaller than I thought it was. I've played roller hockey there and it didn't seem so small, but now that I'm playing ice hockey, the rink seems.. tiny. Tis strange. Perhaps the cold ice made the rink shrink?

In any case, we won the first game of our seven game series. It was close though. We were up something like 6-2 when I got there, and then the score was tied at eight. *blinks* Correlation? Nah.

People were tired afterward though. Most weren't used to the extra half-hour of play and didn't take that into account. Well, that and the fact that our team only had three subs after I arrived.

We went out for dinner afterward and then I went home. (Where I ended up playing Settler's of Catan for the next couple of hours. *hangs head*)
