[3:26 PM EDT - Ascension (again).]

I finally finished Throne of Bhaal. Ugh, that last battle was TOUGH. Ugh. I had to set the difficulty setting down so that I could actually finish the game. *hangs head* Anyway, the ending was pretty good. Actually, the whole game was pretty good. They put in some cute goodies like that Zork-like adventure and the returning Spectator. (He's a pretty nice guy for a Beholder.) Oh, and I got a kick out of the: "Bondari reloads game" bit. Had me rolling around in my seat. The NPC banter is better now as well. One that I didn't come across in my game is:

Viconia: "You do love the sound of your own voice, don't you gnome?"
Jan: "My own voice? Heartless wench! Do you not know? I am deaf. I have never heard the sound of my own voice. I read lips... (sob)... only lips..."

Hey, I didn't know he was deaf.

Hockey last night went well. My feet hurt during the game but they always do in my skates (I probably should get new ones). My ankle was fine though. I was one of the last guys to show up, but there was one guy who showed up after me. I never caught his name. He mentioned that if he was in net, he wouldn't try stopping any shots. I filed that away under "useful information".

The game was a little faster paced than the first one, which is fine for me. It was closer to the level of most of the roller hockey games this summer. (Although the rink here was a lot smaller and you were turning all the time.) I had a whole lot of shots on net. Many of them were taken while the guy who I mentioned above were in net. None went in. I should explain. When the guy above was in net, he'd stand off to one side of the net and lay is stick down so that it covered part of the net. Well, for some reason, all of my shots ended up going right to his feet. Not only that, they would get stuck at or between his feet on the line. No rebounds, no nothing. Argh! Does he have a magnet in there or something? Most of my teammates had the same problem. We just couldn't get the puck by him, and he was just standing there! *pulls at (very short) hair* After taking my third unsuccessful shot, I couldn't stop laughing at our inability. Eventually, I did get one in, but that was only because the puck was on the line and he was just standing there. So I just tapped it a couple of times until it went in. I guess he felt sorry for me. (I sure did.)

There's an anime gathering taking place at Dangerman's abode. Remind me to pick up some CD-Rs and my Kare Kano.

[6:23 PM EDT - A firm upgrade for port four.]

It's interesting how this day came back to haunt me. I decided to upgrade the firmware on my router and check out the new features. Well, not too much I can really use featurewise, but I decided to check out if port four was working again. It was! Yay! I can now use all four ports of my router.

Now the question is, how did the firmware upgrade fix the port? It may not have.. I'm not sure if my router comes with automatic port locking (I forgot the name) or not. I didn't think it did. But anyway..

I came across a couple of interesting links at ArsTechnica. The first is about the PC cube. It's a take on the Mac Cube that didn't do so well last year. Well, the PC cube is not as fast, or fancy or high class as the Mac Cube, but it works, it's also silent, and it's cheap. Now I want one.

There's another link to an abstract that shows a quantum gravity theory that does not require renormalization! Okay, so it's over my head too, but I remember talking about it in Quantum Physics.

[8:00 PM EDT - Backing up.]

I spent most of last night and part of this afternoon backing up my files. I probably should put in some sort of scheduled routine so I don't have to spend a whole night getting my files together. *ponders*

Actually, it probably won't work since the CD-RW chokes when hot. Well, it chokes when the computer's been on a long time, so setting up a scheduled backup solution won't work. Hrumph. Time to get my own CD-RW!

I've been doing some tutoring of the past couple of months and I was asked recently to tutor someone else. My first question was:

"Is she cute?"

Apparently the answer is.. no. But it is a girl, and it'll be for two hours. Two hours?!? Oi vey. Hey, it's not like I have much to do for the next little while right?
