[Saturday, August 22, 2009: Anton's or Me(VaMe).]

MJNL still had that craving for 'shawarma', so I suggested that we try to go to Anton Restaurant again. I asked AI earlier in the day whether he had been to Anton's before and he told me that I would not be disappointed.

Not disappointed huh?

So after I looked up the real address for Anton's (after that little fiasco yesterday) we headed out. There was a bit of a detour because I had forgotten about the giant sinkhole that was being repaired on Finch Avenue. It is funny that I forgot about it when during every morning traffic report the announcer would always talk about this sinkhole. Bah.

It was not that we were late or anything (although we did arrive way past nine).

We got to the mall that AI told me about ("It's the one with the Price Chopper."), drove around, and could not find the restaurant. I was pretty confident that mall was the one. But to make sure, we headed further down the street to check out other locations. After realizing that there was no commercial units further south, we headed back to the mall. I remembered the address and started looking for numbers. As we counted down, we came to a restaurant that had just opened on August 9th at the same address that Anton's used to be. It was also closed.

Not disappointed huh?

Well, I guess I will have to inform AI next week. I will also have to ask him how the heck he knows about all of these Middle Eastern restaurants.

With Anton's out, I suggested that we try out Me Va Me, even though the reviews were mixed. The restaurant was supposed to be in the same area, although I did not have the address on hand. It took less than a minute: The restaurant was across the street.

We got there and found the decor not as bad as the reviews had said. In fact, it looked fairly modern, open, and clean. We are guessing that they had renovated the restaurant fairly recently.

As an aside, I just found out that Mel's Montreal Delicatessen is closed! Mind you, the last time we went it was not as good as I had remembered it. (Although the food was probably as bad for me as it was when I remembered it.)

Sorry, where was I? Ah yes, so I ordered the Veal and Lamb Shawarma and the waiter told me that they were sold out. Chicken Shawarma? Sold out. Curses! *shakes fist*

MJNL's shawarma craving will not get filled yet again. We settled on the 'kebabs' instead. The food was decent and the portions were good. I was not overly hungry as I had a late lunch (again) so we ended up with quite a bit of left overs. (We have quite a bit of left overs in the fridge now.)

We will probably go back again. I want to try out their shawarma!

[Saturday, August 22, 2009: Dream Sequence: Close Encounters of the Lightning Kind]

I was in my house or cottage. It was a one story affair it was an open concept, but the interior was not flat: there were stairs and platforms everywhere. MJNL and I were inside during a relatively nice day when I decided to look out the window and saw a small dark cloud heading in our direction. A constant barrage of lightning was pouring out of this small cloud. So much so that it looked like it was using the lightning as tendrils to feel the ground. I got MJNL and pulled the both of us to one end of the house so that we would not be in the cloud's path. I watched as the lightning from the cloud passed through our house as if it was not even there. Somehow I knew that it would happen that way. The lightning did not do any damage, but I did not feel it wise to let any of the bolts contact us. The trailing edge of the lightning looked like tentacles that were being dragged along by the storm. After the cloud had passed, I went to look in the back yard to watch the cloud slowly transform into a small pine tree.

The tree opened and an alien came out.
