[3:51 PM EST - More than an hour.]

With the time shift, I now have more than an hour to return the beer bottles that have collected at my place from last night. I have pretty much finished cleaning up the apartment and now I have to do a few more chores before I get ready for tonight. I have a broomball game and I would like to figure out what is wrong with these two (or parts of two) computers I have left.

I also installed that Tor program to check it out. Anonymity anyone?

Yay Tor! It's gotten much faster now that it's more widely used. The only really slow connections I tend to get now are when I end up with an exit node in China.

I was reading through some of the warnings and realized that it would be harder to implement properly since I use Firefox as my primary browser, and this need some of these plug ins. Is there a way around it?

There is nothing about Firefox which makes it easier or harder to anonymise - the torbutton plugin (which I use) simply makes it faster to configure / deconfigure the use of Tor as a proxy.

Active content is really the bugbear of Tor, and would need to be watched for serious anonymising.

Ah, I do use torbutton, but it is the active content that bothers me. In any case, I was thinking of installing another version of Firefox with all of the potentially hazardous options disabled.

The NoScript plugin would probably suffice.

Are you using Tor more for it's traffic analysis prevention, or actual anonymity? Obviously things like cookies become a problem for real anonymity.

Hmm looks like your BBCode interpreter is struggling.

I think I got the comment script working again. Anyway, I have not heard of the NoScript plugin. I may check it out. For better anonymity, I tend to turn off all scripting and cookies but it makes some sites nigh-impossible to visit.
