[10:00 AM EST - Stasis.]

My hard drive died on Thursday, and since then, I haven't been able to use my computer. I've lost all of my data, and I don't have my usual methods of connecting to the Internet or entertaining myself. I've found that I've actually got a lot of time on hand now, and I've been using this new found resource to finish some things I've been meaning to do for quite some time. Chores that needed to be done, work that needed to be finished, projects to complete or conclude. I feel so much more productive.

But as my chores are completed, and my stress ebbs, something that I've kept hidden, something that's always been there, starts to rear it's ugly head. The choices have been made, it's only a matter of time before we reach a conclusion, and the time is close..

I've been here before. I know how this feels. They say that only people who are insane will do something a second time and expect a different result. I know I'm crazy, but sometimes it's good to let go.

[12:02 PM EST - MDK.]

It's been forty years since the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Forty years and the records are still sealed. We may never know what happened, but I remember doing a project on this topic in high school. The amount of conspiracy theories and general disbelief that one lone gunman could've pulled of such a stunt was..

Well, I don't know, it was overwhelming but I had homework to do, so I just regurgitated whatever I read and that was that. Some people put their whole lives into this single event. It's amazing how much time and effort was placed to try to piece this puzzle together.

In a related note, I was reading through the paper and came across an article about one guy who was shot by a stray bullet in his living room, and another who was barely missed by one. They were in my neighborhood. I usually don't pay too much attention to things like this, but.. it's kind of weird to read up on stuff like this isn't it? I didn't realize how close these incidents were until they threw it on a map. Ah well, time to wear a kevilar sweater huh?

One more thing I wanted to mention, last Thursday I was called out to my uncle's place because he said that he only had 73.1 MB of hard drive space on his computer. So I wandered down there and took a look at the available space: 731 MB. Hmm.. *rubs chin* I think that's plenty. Funny enough, when I got back home, my hard drive failed..

[2:47 PM EST - Half gone.]

HKL came by and carted away some of the computers I had lying around the house. Now I've got more space in the basement, but I'm still deciding what to do with the Pentiums I've got upstairs. With the lack of time to actually make use of them, I might just donate them as well. Let's see.. there's the 486 DX2, two P133s and a P166 that I don't really have a use for since I've got three P200 MMX machines to play with. I'll probably strip them for parts, get the parental units' computer up and running and then donate the rest. That should clear up a LOT of space up here..

I also did some rearrangement of some stuff here. Hmm, maybe I should install that hard drive in my server?

[5:18 PM EST - No cluster?]

Well, now that I've realized that I don't actually have time to do anything with these computers, I'm probably going to donate them or throw them out. Ah well, there goes that beowulf idea. At least the computer room will be a lot less cluttered!

I plan to keep two of the P200 MMX machines so that I have a backup of the server handy.

Now all I need to do is figure a way to retrieve the data off my dead drive..

[8:29 PM EST - Three drives..]

I've been moving all the usefull stuff over to my remaining machines. Namely, the hard drives. My secondary server actually has two GB of space now, while my primary server should have an extra 270 MB once I get this new drive in. Unfortunately, I'm a little hesitant about doing any changes to it with my primary computer down, which is kind of funny, since I don't normally have time to do this sort of stuff but only have time to upgrade now that my computer's down.

Okay, that and the fact that I didn't have anything planned for today. tomorrow's supposed to be a doozy though.

I slapped the 2GB drive into Knossos so now I won't have to worry too much about it running out of space anytime soon. Now all I have to do is figure out why the new hard drive is making that strange noise, and figuring out how to mount it..

[8:42 PM EST - Broomball from the past.]

Wow, I got e-mail from some guy in Australia who went to the 2000 World Broomball Championships! Craziness..
